TMPGEnc freezes

i tried to convert an avi file into m2v to burn later into a dvd,
i choose the video input, but when i choose the same file for audio input the programs freezes completely, i always have to restart the computer because of this,
can anyone help me with this?

This makes NO SENSE whatsoever.

The video format of an .AVI might be Uncompressed RGB, DivX v.3.11, 4.12, 5.03, Xvid, etc.

The audio format of an .AVI might be, Uncompressed PCM (.WAV), CBR-.MP3, VBR-.MP3, .AC3, etc.

I think we both know that he meant the audio and video stream inputs are tmpgenc are the same .avi file...

Having said that, "juanchankein" open the video file in VirtualDub and post the adio information.

i opened de video file in VirtualDub and got this message
"Virtualdub has detected an improper VBR in the audio encoding in the source AVI file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 13743 ms of skew from the video stream. If this is unacceptable, decompress the "entire" audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate : 136.2 +- 19.2 kbps)"
this is the first time i use this program so i left it alone and hope you can tell me what can i do

Converting .AVIs with VBR-MP3 Audio

Simply use NanDub to save the audio stream as an Uncompressed PCM (WAV) file as follows:
Load your original .AVI into NanDub
Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copy"
Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"
From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Compression" - and choose "<No compression(PCM)>"
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save WAV" (Enter a new filename with a ".WAV" extender).Click on "OK"
Then set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
Then save the .AVI as a silent .AVI (set "Audio" to "No audio" after you've saved the WAV file).

Then close NanDub and restart it
Set "Audio" to "No audio"
Load your silent .AVI
Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
Under "Audio" click on "WAV Audio" and load your .WAV
Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"
From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Compression" and choose the appropriate .MP3 settings. Click on "OK"
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save as AVI" and save your file with a new filename.


TMPGEnc should now accept this new .AVI's video and audio streams for processing.

when i saved the wav file it was no bigger than 858kb is this correct?
at any time do i have to play the avi file for it to process right?
also what is the proper mp3 setting?

ok, i separated the two streams,video in avi and audio in wav, but when i used the tmpgenc after 9 minutes of movie the preview screen went dark, is this normal?

i checked the original avi file and it has bad frames in 1 second of the movie, this is where tmpgenc gives the dark screen and it keeps that screen for the rest of the output file... is there anyway i can fix this?
