    Priest needs help! Newbie authoring.

    Hello all,

New here so please be patient.

We have just purchased a dvd+r burner for our parish church. We have had a DV camera for some time and thus have quite a few AVI files which we would like to burn onto DVDs. Unfortunately we have done a fair amount of editing in Windows Movie Maker which does not have a burn to DVD utility. We are having a hard time finding software for AVI to DVD burning. Though I have read a bit of the website info I am having a hard time deciphering between authoring, converting and burning.

We do have Studio 8, but it doesnt seem able to import AVI files.

    I hope you can help.

    Sincerely,

    Father John Abraham

You can use TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 to convert your avi files to mpg,and then use TMPGEnc DVD Author to create DVD files, which you can then burn using Nero or your prefered software.

You can download the TMPGEnc software from here-http://www.pegasys-inc.com/e_download.html

frjohn, here is a link to an "AVI to DVD" converter.

I do not know if it's any good, but it might be worth a try.

Basically you have to convert your avi files to mpeg-2 (DVD complaint) format. You can then burn these dvd complaint mpeg-2 stream(s) to dvd-/+r/rw

        Reading the guides at dvdrhelp.com
        doom9.org

will be helpful (look for avi-to-mpeg2 conversion guides).

You may also be able to make "Studio 8" recognize avi files by frameserving (more information at doom9.org forums/guides).
