SVCD MPEG files stored on DVD-RW

    Hi Folks,
Discovered wonderful feature of DVD-RW and storing my SVCD MPEG files on this media with my home DVD player (Hyundai).

Seems when MPEG files exist on a DVD-RW media they are identified exactly as what they are. SVCD (or VCD ??) data and the Hyundai player brings up a not too fancy but workable menu where you can select which film you want to view.

Now this is absolutely wonderful means fitting 3 high quality SVCD films onto 1 disk !!!!!!!!!

WARNING though , a copy of this DVD-RW burnt onto a DVD-R DOES NOT ACHIEVE A PLAYABLE result in the home DVD player. !

I do recall from looking into the Pioneer DVD player/burner system that it has a VR mode where a DVD-RW can be used to record 52 hours of TV input.

But I am having great troubles trying to find out the ins and outs of this. Why exactly is it only DVD-RW and not DVD-R ?

Can someone with infirinite wisdom explain this to us all ?

    Thank You

i dont really know but i would suspect its something to do with the way the table of contents is written on the RW compared to R

although i could be way off mark
