fps and audio

hey everyone..

ive just got a dvd from a mate of mine, but unfortunatly the audio slowly gets out of sync with the video.

so from the start of the dvd, the sync is fine, then closer to the end of the movie, the audio is about 100 - 200ms in front of the video.

i was thinking... if i re-encode this video at a different frame rate, then mux the sound again.. would the sound be sync?

at the moment its running at 29.97fps, ive got the choice of going down to 25, or maybe even 23 or going up to 30fps.

any thoughts?

If this is a DVD containing DVD structure (.IFOs, .BUPs, .VOBs [possibly including menus, chapters, "extras"), you'll probably find your task more daunting than you suspect...

i just want the video..

heres my plan:

- rip it from the dvd
- use flaskmpeg with the cinemaster encoder plugin and re-encode it with different framrate.
- direct stream copy the sound
- use tmpeg dvd author to author the video with sound

im half way through now

Nothing in your description of tasks, certainly not changing the video framerate, appears to address your only stated concern - audio/video synch...

to perform this you should determine first if the delay increases
constantly or if it happens all of a sudden at a special point of
you dvd video!!

Just curious - Is this the same DVD that you posted about at an earlier date, indicating, "i found a program that adds or subtracts a specified length of time to an AC3 track."?

nope..nothing to do with that one... that was solved

Boy, if that's the case, you really are having remarkably poor luck with asynchronous DVDs. Having one such DVD is odd - having two, from two different sources is almost incomprehensible in the world of burned DVDs...
