    DVD authoring Experts, please help?

    Excuse my ignorance.

I want to take DV, bring it into my computer and burn to a DVD in DVD quality (mpeg2 I think).

I'm sure it can be done, but I'm not sure of the right peripherals needed.

I was looking at PCI firewire card and DVD-RW drive. Will this work?

Also what software do I need to create menus and such for the DVD?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Extremely easy to use, while actually offering fairly sophisticated options, is "TMPGEnc DVD Author" (different than "TMPGEnc")

I use this one too, the latest version (.44) let you also design
      your own menu,

and for the basics,i capture with WinDV, i drag the the files into
studio8, cut off unwanted material here and there, do the
"create an MPEG file" option, choose dvd quality, but choose then
"custom" to increase the bitrate of the video part, then author in
TMPGEnc DVD Author, ignore the warning file size too large to
fit on dvd, compress this later with DVD20ne, and burn it later
      with Nero.
      Thanks,

      David.
