What authoring software do you use? What is the burner brand? And what brand media (DVD Disc) are you using? The only "jittery" DVD's I've burned came from using discount DVD Disc's I bought at WalMart...I wound up using them as Data Discs (they worked fine for that purpose)....but all my DVD's were jittery. I switched to more expensive brands and everything cleared up. If you search this forum you'll find a large ranking file of various Disc's...with "problem childs" highlighted.

I use TMPGEnc DVD Author to create the file.

I use Nero to burn it.

      I use Verbatim discs.

My DVD writer is a Pioneer one.

      Thanks again.

What OS do you have , and processor MHz & RAM size? If you have 2000 or XP TMPGenc DVD Author can burn as well as prep. I haven't heard any negatives on Verbatim's...but why not pick up a small pack of high-end disc's (ie. Sony's or FujiFilm) just to see if the problem persists. Usually the problem at this stage is media.

Jerky, stuttering playback is usually related to the type of media used and the speed it was burned at.

Not all 4x media is good for burning MPEGs.
Usually cheap media will exhibit the symptons you have when burned at higher speeds and with some cheap media it will happen at any speed.

Seeing as you are using verbatim which in my opinion are usually ok I would conclude that it is simply that your player or burner doesn't like these disks. It does happen.

Try burning the Verbies at 2x instead of 4x and see the result.
If you still get the same probs then get yourself some RITEK G04's.

These disks are excellent for 4x burning and very rarely give problems.

I have a Pioneer 106 and use NERO to burn on to these RITEKS and have never had a coaster or problem yet.

            Thanks for your help guys.

            I use XP,Pentium 4,2.61ghz,512mb ram.

My burner is a pioneer 105.

I always burn at X1 speed for maximum quality.

I will try some Ritek GO4 discs as suggested and hope this cures it.
