    dvdshrink and dvd author

    Hi,
I have backedup a dvd using dvdshrink. On top of the main film I backedup some extras.

Now I´m trying to add a menu to the files dvdshrink created. Therefore I use TMPEnc DVD Author. In DVD Author I click on "add dvd video", select the folder where the files dvdshrink created are located, but then I get only the main movie to select from, as opposed to have a selections of all the films (extras).

When I then try to add new tracks using (clips to an additional track) using "add dvd video" I get still only the same first movie.
When using "add file" I can add the single vob (each extra consist only of one single vob), but it adds only the first frame, nothing more.
I am not able to add any of the other films dvdshrink put into the same folder.

    PLEASE, CAN ANYBODY HELP??

Am I doing something basically wrong?? The files created by dvdshrink are ok, they play without any problem with powerdvd.

    Hope you have an idea...

    1) When you select "Add DVD video", are you sure it doesn't list more than one TITLE?

    2) Or is it possible that, in using DVD Shrink to "Re-author", you've combined the movie and the "extras" into only one TITLE?

      1) yes, it lists only one title.
      2) no. I used "Re-author", where I added the main movie and some short films from the same dvd simply one after the other. Then I backed up.

Maybe a hint: when I open the *.ifo file dvdshrink created again in dvdshrink, it list the main movie as "main movie" and the short ones under "extras". This is created by dvdshrink, I didn´t create myself any extras folder.

Thanks for you fast reply and any further help...

You piqued my curiosity - So I used DVD Shrink (v.3.0beta5) to re-author Matrix reloaded. I re-authored the main movie title together with two "extras" titles.

I then used "TMPGEnc DVD Author" to "Add DVD video" - and all three titles appeared!

Therefore, I'm at a loss to understand why you have the problem you've described...

This is btw on Monsters Inc.

I´ve also tried to author a dvd for each extra alone in its own folder. They play nicely in powerdvd, but I can´t open the titles in dvd author, regardless of if I author them individually or all combined with the main film.

          I´m using

DVD Shrink 3.5 Beta 5 and
          TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5.15.49 trial

          I´m running out of ideas.

          Thankful for any further help...

...another idea: could the size of the vob's matter??

The main movie consists of three big vob's (2*1GB + 880MB), while the extras' vob's are all smaller than 1GB (between 70 and 160MB).

I don´t know if this could matter??? But I do't see any other difference...

I'm out of this (very nice ) forum till sunday...

"On top of the main film I backedup some extras."

Have you, by any chance, placed the "extras" in a DIFFERENT folder than the one containing the main movie?

No, I first opened the DVD in the first DVDSHRINK frame, then opened a re-author frame and copied the film from the "main movie" folder to the "New DVD" folder, after which I added some short films from the "extras" folder again to the "New DVD" folder. They were all copied to the "New DVD" folder which the re-author frame of DVDDhrink has as default. I don't know weather it is possible to change that anyway.

                    1) Please be good enough to list ALL of the filenames and filesizes (.IFOs, .BUPs, .VOBs) that appear in the DVD Shrink-created "package" on your hard drive...

                    2) If you PLAY the DVD Shrink-created "package" as a "DVD" on your PC, can you in ANY way access the "extras"?

                      Here they go:

                      VIDEO_TS.BUP
                      VIDEO_TS.IFO
                      VTS_01_0.BUP
                      VTS_01_0.IFO
                      VTS_01_1.VOB
                      VTS_01_2.VOB
                      VTS_01_3.VOB
                      VTS_01_4.VOB
                      VTS_02_0.BUP
                      VTS_02_0.IFO
                      VTS_02_1.VOB
                      VTS_03_0.BUP
                      VTS_03_0.IFO
                      VTS_03_1.VOB
                      VTS_04_0.BUP
                      VTS_04_0.IFO
                      VTS_04_1.VOB
                      VTS_05_0.BUP
                      VTS_05_0.IFO
                      VTS_05_1.VOB

                      2)Yes.
In PowerDVD I can simply by clicking "next" go from chapter to chapter and after the last chapter it goes to the next title and so on...

The last thing I can think of - What version number of "TMPGEnc DVD Author" are you using? - and was it obtained "other than by purchase or free trial"?

It's a free trial I downloaded last week:
                          TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5.15.49 trial
Tonight I'll try the same with some other DVD to see if it's DVD related. Other than that, I'd say it's a bug in this DVD Author version. I'm running out of ideas.
                          Thanks for your efforts...

That's the same version I used (not trial - but it's identical), without error, in my experiment with Matrix Reloaded - so it's hard to believe it's a bug in the program...
