    From DV to DVD

Hi, I don't know if 4im at the right place, but...
I a Digital Camcorder, and I'd like to put my video's on dvd, but I don't know where to start, I already have some trouble tranfering my DV video to my computer, I tried with adobe premiere, but not so easy to work with, and it seems it saves the video as an AVI?
Isn't there a way to save it to an Mpeg?

Ps: I use un mini DV cable to transfer the movie (not a rca!)

    thanks

It's better to save as avi and edit (if u want to) then render as MPEG for DVD burning...

U can use sonic foundry vegas 4.0 to record and edit your movies.
Maby edit and insert transitions & some effects and then render the whole thing as a MPEG with Vegas...

Then u can use DVD Architecht (sonic too) to make your DVD's...
    With menues and everything

cyberlink power director 3, ulead video studio 7 both can capture in mpeg2, but u need like 2.5-3 ghz processor for realtime capturing.
though non-realtime works as great too.

can get trials of both frm www.gocyberlink.com , www.ulead.com
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!

In this instance realtime refers to converting what you're puting through your DV lead into the PC as an mpeg without having to save it as avi, then convert the file later.
Because of the work required in compressing the data before it needs to read the next part of the stream, you're going to need a lot of processing power and speed, otherwise you will have frame dropouts and lose some of your video.
This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!

just instal a mpeg plugin like panasonic mpeg encoder.
              or use cleaner xl.
              works great.
premiere is easy to use and a lot more powerfuller then vid stud7.
              it's terible

absolutly ur opinion, can u explain why u think so?

also read the post he/she having trouble using premier, maybe u know or used to use it, but for simple work of capturing dv, encoding mpeg2, brning dvd/vcd its one of the easiest.

also look at the following post. can u tell me any great difference b/w the worlds best and most exp. encoder cinema craft and video studio ?

why should you learn a program that can not the things that another program cans.
premiere is much better then vid stud .i think you just agree that.
he/she can better puts his/her time in a prog that works and the results are much better.
i was a new bie too.i started with prem5.there are enough ebooks on the web (P2p).vid stud i have spent a few hours in,but not satisfied in the end result.the transactions are **** to work with.adding/editing audio is a hell.
I love premiere.just spent a few hours more to learn.
If the end result isnt good enough, the fun of editting fades a way.

and the pilot i don''t get ,i don''t know what you mean by that.
                  thats the way i think.

again ill say its ur opinion, for simple dv/home vid to mpeg2 with editing well vid studio 7 better, u still think premeire will do better i dont think so. if u say premiere quality will be better please check the link in my previous post, when cinema craft cant do real better then video studio, u think premiere with panasonic encoder will? well ill check that in few days and post again.

oh bythe way thats what rsquirrel hav to say.......Video Studio 7 is amazing...and it costs 1/5 less than Premiere.
