    having problems

Hi, im completely new to this so please forgive my ignorance on the subject, im trying to burn a divx movie to dvd using neroVision express 2 and am having a couple of problems:

    a) once burnt, the dvd plays on my pc, but with no sound(the divx movie's sound is an AC3 format (yes i have an AC3 codec), could this be the problem?)

    b) on my standalone dvd player (panasonic SA-HT75) i get the menu screen, select play, the button changes colour so i know its been selected, and nothing happens

    c) (more of a querie than a problem) should i be using dvd+r or dvd-r disks?

    thanks for your help

you don't specify your DVD burner?
You need to check the specs of your player for ±r/rw compatibility. Check out http://www.dvdrhelp.com./dvdplayers

If you can run VirtualDubMod or GSpot on your soundless file and post file information here someone might be able to help
This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!

my burner is a pioneer 106D and it supports both +r and -r, i was just wondering which format was most compatible with standalone dvd players

        thread audio problem

        start virtual dub
        open video file
then click in the file menu save wav
        then download an ac3 converter(ac3tool)
rename the file extension to ac3 (123.wav to 123.ac3)
with wincommander (explorer can't do this)
then convert the saved file that you made in vir dub
        then multiflex the two files.
i do that with 'mainconcept encoder'
