DVD Shrink + Tmpgenc DVD Author

Please help a newbie, I have a DVD with a scratch which stops dvd shrink or dvddecrypter or smartripper copying to my hdd, I then used dvd shrink 3.1 to copy in 2 pieces using start/end function this will then play both pieces if burnt to dvd,I also used TMPGenc dvd author to make a custom menu but the 2nd piece has no audio embedded in the file while the 1st piece does.I tried this with 3 different films all giving no audio in the 2nd piece, am i doing something wrong ? I only disable non-english audio when re-authoring the movie.Any movies done as one piece work OK.
    Thanks for any assistance.

"TMPGenc dvd author to make a custom menu but the 2nd piece has no audio embedded in the file while the 1st piece does."

Did you try and play the 2nd part on a "Software" DVD player such as WinDVD or PowerDVD to check the audio?

"yes, checked with powerdvd and sound works on 2nd piece."

Then the audio is fine. If you have a straight VOB file that you opened in "TMPGEnc DVD Author", it sometimes does not recognize the audio–even though the audio is present. Do you have a single VOB file from Shrink or is it an Mpeg 2 file?

If "TMPGEnc DVD Author" does not recognize the audio in your VOB file, try de-multiplexing then multiplexing your VOB in the regular "TMPGEnc" encoding program–different than TMPGEnc DVD Author. This will generate a DVD compliant mpeg 2 file, which DVD Author should accept.

"how do i create mpeg2 file"

Open TMPGEnc–a different program than TMPGEnc DVD Author. Go to "File" > "Mpeg Tools" and click on the "De-multiplex" tab. add the VOB file click OK. A dialog box will appear with a Video stream (the first one) and an Audio stream. Double click on the video stream and save with a filename of your choice-the file will be saved with a .m2v extension. After that, do the exact same process with the audio stream–you will now have saved 2 separate files (.m2v and .ac3 or mp2).

Now, go back to "File" > "Mpeg Tools" and click on the "Multiplex" tab. Add the .m2v and .ac3 files and click OK. When that is done, you will have a multiplexed mpeg 2 file. Then test the newly created mpeg 2 file in Windows Media Player or similar program.

have managed to create *.m2v file OK which will show up in "multiplex" tab but the *.ac3 file will not show in box when click "add" button , also tried *.mp2 file type.
Sorry to be a pain if i am doing something wrong,
have done a screenshot but can not find how to attach it, in *.png format

                  thanks

Have you navigated to the folder on your HD where the .ac3 is residing?

TMPGEnc is sometimes picky about ac3 audio streams. Try using VirtualDubMod–a free program. If you do that, "Open your VOB file–make sure you have it set to "Direct Stream Copy" when you go to "Streams/Stream list" click on "Demux" and that should save your audio stream as an ac3. Then go back to TMPGEnc and multiplex the audio stream from VirtualDubMod with the .m2v video stream to make an mpeg 2 file.

Refer to the following link as a guide–Except use "VOB" instead of "AVI" as your video file.

Ormonde, have tried virtualdubmod and still had no success with the audio stream. When i open tmpgenc plus 2.5 and go to multiplex the audio + video files only the video file will come up in the box where on the left of the tabs to "add " files,i would expect to see both files so you know what you are mixing together. Is it possible i am having problems because the dvd was split using the slider bar as opposed to the chapter selecter ? I used DVD Shrink 3.1.1,
                              thanks again
