Added Alter First Play support
(If it remains disabled on multiple titles dvd - trick I'm using won't work)
Revised logic on editor - Now just select entry and type -

Removed 32KB limit on video_ts.ifo size
Cleaned up unused entries in title table (All pointers point to leg. strings-So it looks pretty)

Tested on 12 different ifo's so far 6 where it inserted title segment all burned and played fine without Get VTS sectors on my Pioneer. If the final report says it inserted title segment you might want to check if shrink or powerdvd will open - If shrink or powerdvd fails pls post the original video_ts.ifo on this board.

Aside from that I think its a final - Just can't see anything else to add/revise

Could someone please explain briefly what this program actually does?

The video_ts.ifo file on some disks hold a structure called dvd-text which, among other info, can hold the title name.
Most DVDchangers or jukebox uses that structure for their browsing engines, in order to display the titles of the DVDs stored in the jukebox.
Some singledisc players also display the title inside "dvdtext" on their Leds.
Only about a 10% of the DVD titles you can buy use that dvdtext feature.
Titlewriter allows to edit your DVD files to insert DVDtext, so is a MUST for jukebox owners

I'd look at it to see if I could play a trick -but don't have original bmps in three sizes and result mpeg's to compare them to. If its a matter of "authoring" then there are engines already out there if it could be done quick with a trick perhaps.

the idea is not to have a suorce(bmp,jpg,...whatsoever) in three sizes to produce the three required *.mp2 files by jacket_P folder, but to produce the three mp2 files from a single source.

I think that Dvdshrink has all the pieces in place. it would be nice to have a button on preview window to one-click produce the three required files from the picture being previewed. but as dvdshrink development has ended, we might have to send a jukebox to DVDshrink (the man) as a gift, in order to convince him to introduce the feature.

I know that this is related to vobs, not to ifo, but as you own a jukebox, and know programming, you might feel the need

I'm pretty sure that Mr. Shrink would look at that task then his code and keel over. First take a snapshot - Thats doable, then shrink size of snaps - very very sticky with an mpeg - he'd have to convert to full frame bmp of some sort, then shrink then reconvert. then write a header. Actually the only piece he might be able to do is the snapshot to bmp.

AnyWay - I have 2 Pioneer jukeboxes not Sony - Pioneer doesn't use Jacket-p in menu systems.

So thy need is greater then mine.

seem to need GetVTS

I Shrunk (with DVDShrink) Pirates of the Caribean, Titlewrited it (release ver.), and before burning,played from HD with PowerDVD with no probs. So I burned my backup copy, and disk notplayed neither in Sony Changer, nor in singledisk player.

I put DVD back om computer, and again refused to play with PowerDVD!!!!

So, I played samefiles again from HD instead of DVD an it played

Conclusion1: Still have to do GetVTS for the disk to play properly in my DVDplayers (may be Sony jukeboxes are more strict about what they play than Pioneer )

Conclusion2: PowerDVD is not enough a test, just by playing from HD, as when playing from media it is also more strict than when reading from HD.

Here i atach the titlewrited ifo, in case you can reach any conclusion.
PS. I didnt play the vobs with powerDVD (open media files), I selected play DVD folder from HD, and selected video_ts folder

I would always do a get vts sectors to be on the safe side - it takes 15 seconds or less...

What a weird ifo half seems to be missing and whats there seems to be in the wrong order - From what I can see using Hex editor. IfoEdit won't even open it much less play it all I get is the Header no sub sector info.

Do you have the original -Pre Titlewriter video_ts.
What was used to create this file - shrink ,something else
I still haven't used get vts on any of mine and have had no problems yet. Backed up another 5 yesterday 2 with everything.

Still more studying with a hex editor - the original ifo must not have contained any sector tables beyond VMG_vob and was less then 4Kb long maybe even 2 Kb and that just doesn't sound right, I would really really like to see that IFo sirgawain. Do you have the bkp file created when titlewriter ran.The Ifo you posted only contained VMG_VOB sector and text sector without any other tables.

It was a two step shrink.
First DVDshrink decrypt to HD and reauthor to only main titele.
2nd Dvdshrink to aply mixed compression (still pictures for credits)
After that,titlewrited and burned with TMPEG dvdauthor burning engine.
Pity i didnt keep intermediate files nor bkp file.
I will try to reproduce the process and post the ifos here this evening

Okay - before you titlewrite try opening with IFOEDIT and see if all the tables show up. If They don't you have a non_compliant Video_ts.ifo.

You may be right on the powerdvd test - now that I think on it more powerdvd really doesn't test or use many of the tables. The best test is actually IFOEDIT play (can't use on my machine IFOEDIT play doesn't like Win XP)

Its no trouble - Rampaging curiousity - I really really thought I had it. Just backed up 2 more full disks - inserted titles - disks play fine in pioneer juke, pioneer 343, powerdvd, and denon player --baffeling
