TMPGENC DVD Author- pulling my hair out

I have a clip in a project that is fully recognized by TDA (from start to finish, video and audio). And I have created a bunch of chapters in it. The chapters are recgonized and I can click to the last chapter and last frame in the editing screen.

However, when I author the clip to DVD, the last chapter is #50 and the title ends. The help file says 99 chapters are possible.

What could be the problem? I have started from scratch twice, there is nothing wrong with the orignal clip, TDA "sees" it ok, it's just the authoring that goes bad.

    Thanks,
    Owen

What are you playing the disc in? Might this be a limitation of your player?

The disc is being played in my stand alone player, which plays all my other discs authored with TDA. I must have re-authored this project 5 0r 6 times already, and I'm convinced it's the clip itself and not TDA.

Anyone know a good format checker for VCD files? Illegal frames, bit rates, etc?

      Thanks,
      Owen

Do you have a "Registered" version of DVD Author or a trial version?

What program did you use to initially encode your video file, or was it a downloaded video file?

It was originally a VCD (dat) file. I used M2 Edit Pro to demux it into separate video and audio streams.
              Thanks,

Are you loading the "Demuxed" video and audio separately into DVD Author? If so, try "Multiplexing" them back together as a combined mpeg 2 file first, and then load it into DVD Author and arrange your chapters.

Hmm, haven't done that with this file but I have with others. The main problem is the size of the end product...I could DVD Shrink it but since they are VCD files, I don't want to lose quality of the video. I gain a lot more free space by demuxing to m1v and mpa.
                  Thanks,
                  Owen

You won't be able to use DVD Shrink unless the file structure is in DVD format. (.IFO, .BUP, .VOB)

The format is in DVD format - I've played it on my PC and in my set-top box. It's just the one file ends abruptly...
What I meant that since the sources are VCD, quality is bad to begin with and I don't want to lose any more.

There may not be much you can do as at appears that the file that ends abruptly is most likely corrupt.

                          Authoring using TMPGEnc DVD Author

I encoded an avi file using TMPGEnc and then i used TMPGEnc DVD Author to author the mpg file in order to burn. Everytime i go to begin output i get the error:

Read error occurred at address 0001325F of module 'TMPGEncDVDAuthor.exe' with FFFFFFF4.

I do not know what this error means or how to fix it, can anyone help me with this? I have attempted to enode the original source avi file several different ways. I do not know what to do. Any help will be appreciated. my aim is MstrSephiroth1 if you wish to contact me to help. thank you.

Ummm, your post has nothing to do with the topic of the original post as I AM able to output to DVD files. Anyyway, do a search, from what I know, it's a bug so you need to re-install.

                            ormonde,
I'm gonna try and get another source clip to see if the same thing happens.
                            thanks,
