hello all

i've got a dvd movie, but the audio is out of sync with the video.

it turned out that the audio was encoded at a 384kbit/s and needed to be 448kbit/s

so i demuxed the vob files, and re-encoded the audio, the re authored the whole thing back to dvd

but this was movie only but least i had me vobs files. i thought i could use ifoupdate to match my new ifos to the original, so i could get the menu's back up and working.

the trouble is the original ifo contains 2 pgcs
and my new ifo only contains 1 pgc

i did manage to get some sort of a result in ifoupdate, everything changed over apart from the chapters, not so sure if it possible to get everything working. so i thought i'd post the question on here

any info would be greatly received

even better if some would allow me to email over the 2 ifo's and have a closer look for me

So what's your actual question? And more importantly, why would you ever re-encode AC-3 audio?

As far as I know, audio bitrate on its own can't cause loss of sync. Sampling rate can though. Either way, sync problems can't be fixed through IFO files; you'll have to re-author the DVD.

Again, you can't fix audio sync by modifying IFO files. Audio bitrate isn't even stored in IFO files. If you're trying to do something else then please explain it more clearly.

i got the original ifo and i want to match my vob files to the original ifo

Okay, try this. Put the new VOBs into the folder with original IFOs. Open the VTS_01_0.IFO in IfoEdit assuming the new VOBs are VTS_01_x.VOB. Click VOB Extras and perform a mock strip of the VOBs by selecting Strip Streams along with two "Correct..." options and keeping all the streams. There is a chance that the set of VOBs produced this way along with the corrected IFOs would work as desired.

it writ all new vobs and ifo's but i lost my chapters,


there is a trailer for the movie, that is at the start of vob1, which is linked to the extras in the menu,

so after what i you told me to, i have no chapters and the trailer becomes the start of the movie!!

could i maybe email the ifo's over to you, just to give you a better idea what your dealing with??

Unfortunately, if IfoEdit didn't help, there is no choice left but to re-author the entire DVD. In theory, it's possible to update the old IFOs with the information from the new ones, but doing this manually would take forever. There are many ways to remux a video stream into the VOBs but I can't recall any guide regarding remuxing an audio stream, which is what you're doing. Still, you can search for such a guide, or maybe somebody can suggest one.

i dont understand what you mean? remuxing of a audio stream?

Well, there are many options to replace (remux) the video stream (.m2v), normally with the re-encoded version, in the existing DVD structure. In your case, you want to replace an audio stream in the original DVD with the same re-encoded soundtrack; maybe, there is a guide/method for it, but I didn't happen to come across one.
