I cant get VCD Mpegs to compile in DVDLab

I want to compile my VCD mpeg collection into a DVD using DVDLab.

My first problem was when i had to "Tranzcode" the audio from 40khz to 48khz or something. I then had working audio but when i tested the moive files in DVD lab, all i got was a greed screen.

and when i place them into a moive selection all i got was a long black movie with an infinite time length of 00:00:00.

I then tryed to compile the dvd and after 30 seconds it said it was succseful, but in fact it had written the basic files but not compiled any movies or audio files.

Any one had a similar experiance?

Although DVDLab can accept SVCDs directly for input, I don't believe it can handle VCDs properly...

I had a crack with DVD lab and an SVCD, all worked fine but the audio and visual play back was choppy and shuddery. Ive checked everything and cant think why it should stutter.

If you created the SVCD yourself, this should not occur. If you downloaded the SVCD there's no telling what's causing the problem...

I made it myself, the SVCD plays fine, but when i use it in the DVD it goes all juddery

1) Make sure the audio is at 48,000Hz and not 44,100Hz...

2) If you're creating an NTSC DVD, make sure the SVCD is 352x240 and 29.970Fps or 23.976Fps. If you're creating a PAL DVD, make sure the SVCD is 352x288 and 25Fps.

Its PAL, and yeah it matches all you said but its still juddery :S.

Assuming that the ORIGINAL file (the one you converted TO SVCD) is an .AVI - One set of procedures (other posters may/probably will suggest alternative methods) would be:

1) Use "TMPGEnc" (or "TMPGEncPlus") to convert the .AVI (DivX-compressed or otherwise) to compliant MPEG2-for-DVD format - Use "TMPGEnc's" DVD wizard/template to accomplish this

2) Use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" (a different program than "TMPGEnc") to easily create the required additional DVD files and structure (and chapters and a menu, if you wish)


**If the combined filesize of the DVD "package" written to your hard drive is greater than 4.37Gb, use DVD Shrink (or similar) to compress


If your O/S is either Win2000 or WinXP, TMPGEnc DVD Author can also burn your DVD. Otherwise, use NERO to burn in "DVD-Video" mode
(As an alternative to "TMPGEnc DVD Author", you could use "DVDLab")

Ok, ill try this, thanks again.


Only problem is i wanted to fit about 8 x 45min movies onto the DVD, doing it this way ill probably only get 2 x 45mins im gusseing.

You may be able to get 3 or 4 on one DVD, by using DVD Shrink to compress, as I suggested above...
