    Having no luck with Authoring.

    Hi everyone,

This is my first post at this excellent website, so please bear with me.

I have a whole bunch of .vob files I would like to burn onto a DVD. When I play the files with PowerDVD, they play fine with no skipping, artifacts, sound issues, or other problems. Using Nero Ultra 6 with NeroVision Express, it automatically accepts the files and I can burn a DVD with them. But, the sound is way off in the final result. Major synch problems. I go back and have NeroVision simply export the .vob files into mpeg2 (standard DVD format settings) to test the files. But even the exported files play with major sound synch issues. So, why is it doing this? Like I said, the originals are playing fine.

That brings me to me second question. I decided to try and use my brothers PC which has Sony Vegas 5 software on it. I can open the .vob files and play them in preview, but there is no sound?!? When I render to mpeg with Vegas5, it renders with no sound.

So, one software gives my synch errors, the other does not render the sound at all. I'm really striking out here.

Is there some easy way to convert my .vob files into standard mpeg2 DVD format files so I can use NeroExpress to author them without having them skip. (And is there any advice on the Vegas5 problem?)

Thanks in advance for any help.

"Is there some easy way to convert my .vob files into standard mpeg2 DVD format files"

    1) .VOB files ARE standar DVD-format files

    2) Try using "TMPGEnc DVD Author" (Different than "TMPGEnc" and "TMPGEncPlus") to author the .VOBs

Ok. I asked that question the wrong way. I would like to strip the additional informaion from the .vob files (such as the additional packets containing navigation and search information) and just have the mpeg2 stream left over, the most basic form of the format. In other words, I want the file to end with .mpeg That way I can check the audio synch and have any DVD authoring suite easily understand my file. I'll check out TMPGEnc (DVD Author version) as well.

      Thanks for your help.
