I've been asked to take an existing DVD, and add an audio tag with text on screen to two segments of a three segment disc.
(No copyright issues )
I have full-tilt video editing tools, but have no clue about editing a DVD.
I figure (maybe) I can capture the existing audio and video into my editor, add the tags and output the stuff back to mpeg2. But that would be recompression. (Or maybe convert the .vob files back and forth with some s/w tool y'all are aware of.)
If that's possible, and I can get back to vob files without serious harm, can I then replace the original vob files with these newly modified ones, and then have a new "master" for making updated copies?
Can I go from vob to video and back to vob without damage?
If so, can I simply replace the vob files and not affect the menus?
Exactly what data do the .bup and .ifo files contain?
Thanks in advance for any light y'all can shed for this DVD rookie.
