    Help! TMPGEnc 3 Xpress

    Hello,

I am running into a problem with TMPG Enc 3 XPress. I am trying to import a Panasonic HS2 VRO recording on DVD-RAM into the encoder so I can 're-encode' it and import into TMPG Enc Author for authoring.

The file imports perfecting into TMPG Enc Author but will not import properly into TMPG Enc 3 XPress. I goto the Source Wizard, select the source, it starts to copy it to the HDD and then (once it reaches 100%) it fails with a message such as:

"Invalid sample format. (error code 0x80048002)"

(the message is different each time!)

I am only using the TRIAL version at the moment as I don't want to buy something that doesn't do what I want - will upgrading help?

I have also tried copying the whole DVD_RTAV folder to the PC HDD but the result is the same.

    Can anyone help?

"The file imports perfecting into TMPG Enc Author but will not import properly into TMPG Enc 3 XPress."

If "TMPGEnc DVD Author" accepts the file directly for authoring, for what do you feel you have to use "TMPG Enc 3 XPress"?

For reducing the file size. I am recording everything on my Panasonic DVD recorder using top quality XP Mode (1 hour per disk, 9.8MBits/S). I then want to dub to DVD-RAM, import into TMPG Enc 3 XPress and then re-encode to an appropriate size to enable me to fit multiple episodes of a recorded TV series onto a single DVD-R.

You can accomplish the same thing (for free) by using DVD Shrink AFTER using TMPGEnc DVD Author...

Thanks for your help setarip - I actually seem to have got it working now. I took a risk and 'upgraded' to the full version, attempted to import the same file, and it worked! So it was obviously a bug/limitation with the trial version.

The 2pass encoding is what attracts me to TMPGEnc 3 XPress as opposed to a programme like DVD Shrink.
