TitleWriter ver 4.21 - add DVD text/Menus/Automation - 19 May2007

Hi, this software seems to be what i need, but i cannot figure out how to properly utilize it. Ive been looking thru these threads and cannot find basic instructions for making a simple menu for dvd shrink reauthored titles. Any help is appreciated.

I designed the menu's in SimpleMenus folder using Dvd_lab pro.
These menu's were designed to be small (but functionally comprehensive for movie only shrinks (Shrunks?) allowing full chapter,audio and subtitle control) without losing movie quality to menu's.

TW can import (Dvd compliant) menu's created from any source (even the original menu's from Ripped folder)

And will try to make them work properly in the first pass. Second pass (Happy Face) may be necessary to fine tune.

I'm a tad unclear as to your question.
Are you trying to create Your own "simple menu" for each compiliation or 1 Click get it done

Did you look at the guide in the above post.

I already have a 20 spot -- Was afraid to abuse storage at DDloopings site so didn't upload
(He's hosting TW) PM me with your E_mail its about 4MB

You can always kill buttons leading to the extras (only takes a second in TW)
Haven't tested it yet (Feedback if Probs with it Pls)

I thought it would be pretty simple to add DVD-Text with the latest version of TW but I don't think it worked.

Step 1:
Open DVD folder w/TitleWriter

Step 2:
Click "Menu Text" button

Step 3:
Change "Name:" for both Volume and Title

Step 4:
Click "SAVE CHANGES" button

Step 5:
New DVD-Video project using Nero 6.6

Step 6:
Copy VIDEO_TS files to the DVD project VIDEO_TS folder

Step 7:
Burn compilation

After I completed the above steps, I opened the DVD with Windows Media Player 9.0 and the label still said "Unknown DVD" - I'm assuming it attempts to read the name of the DVD from the DVD-Text. What did I do wrong here?

If WMP doesn't read the DVD-Text, is there another program I can verify the burned DVD with?

NOTE: When I reopen the DVD folder with TW, and click "Menu Text" the title I entered for the movie is shown (instead of the default name), meaning the name stuck, even after I deleted the UNDO folder, so I assumed it had worked. How come the name stuck, but the DVD still didn't have the right DVD-Text (according to WMP)?

Right Idea -- Wrong order
Finish/Make your project first in Nero/shrink etc
Open tw -- "Open your Shrunk compiliation" add your text
Save Changes Exit TW
then burn
You don't hand copy anything anywhere.

TW is a post "Shrink" step not pre -- Usually "shrinkers" wipe out that area of the tables

IfoEdit -- DVD Play shows the text under Info
Start Ifoedit >>Open Video_ts of compiliation>>Play DVD>>Info

WMP has no DVD_text support--
I Believe what it shows is the Volume name of the disc--
Not the Volume Name DVD_TEXT (2 totally different things)
( Since you are opening a folder not a disc UNKNOWN pops up)

I don't believe I was clear enough in my description. I wasn't hand copying anything. I used to just shrink to an ISO and then use a different program to burn the ISO. Now I just shrink to a folder. Add the DVD text with TW and then create a new DVD-Video project in Nero and then add the VIDEO_TS files to the project then click burn. Is this all I need to do?

Also, is there a program that can verify the DVD I burned has DVD text? I'm not purchasing a Jukebox yet, but will be in the near future (~2 months). I don't want to have to reburn anything.

Can't blame you I have about 200 disks (Without DVD_TEXT) what a pain


Ifoedit contains a DVD Player

IfoEdit --
Start Ifoedit >>Open >>Video_ts.ifo of disk>>Play DVD>>Info

And Of course TW itself -- If you close TW and reopen >> load your compiliation from the burned disk itself. TW will read whats actually On the disk>>TW will complain it can't Open certain files just click through them

for single layer disks I just burn files with nero via Nero Express. (1000 Sl's and no coasters).
Nero DL Burn support is a POS.

Are you refering to Recode -- No idea if it saves all segments in full disk
I'm fairly sure DVDshrink Full DISK >> ISO saves everything.

just follow your workflow to a RW disk and check results via TW or Ifoedit

Thanks, I verified the burned disk with TW. Do you know how to add Genre information? I'll be using Sony's new DVD mega-changer and I assume it pulls the Genre from DVD-text. Does it pull any other information from there?

Might want to do a little research before buying Sony's Newest Juke -- Seen some buyers bitching about it.
They ended up trying to find the older model
The old Sony's had 2 lines for dvd Text
Many users used Genre for second line
(I think I remember explaining how to fill in the second line for Sony jukes in the help file.
The first line is still supported (Sony's newest juke DVD navigator)

Might want to ask Sony jukebox owners. I Know DVD_text for individual chapters shows up on my pioneer Jukes LED and Info screen (not in their DVD Navigator though)

Ok, I'll investigate it with owners, thanks. There's a huge thread on the Sony over on AVS forums that I've been reading through. All of the complaints are with the DVD info being deleted (making DVD-text that much more important) - almost like random resets, so those are the complaints you're probably talking about.
