Add Subtitles to my DVD

Hello guys!

I have a movie with subtitles(DVD), but not in my native language... hmm.. I found 1 subtitle for the divx version of the movie, I need to add to my DVD, how I can do it? I tried sometimes and now I have very ugly green subtiles... already tried to copy the pallete colors from the original DVD... but, the same color =(

To fix it, you will have to:

- Open the movie original .IFO (most likely "VTS_01_0.IFO") in IfoEdit.

- Select "VTS_PGCITI" >> VTS_PGC_1"

- Choose "Subtitle Color" >> "Copy Colors From This PGC".

- Open your edited version of the .IFO.

- Select "VTS_PGCITI" >> VTS_PGC_1"

- Choose "Subtitle Color" >> "Paste Colors Into This PGC".

- Save the .IFO and .BUP (make backups beforehand, just in case).

If the DVD has more than one title with subs, repeat the same procedure for the other .IFOs

In that case the color values in the PGC in table VTS_PGCITI are set to zero.

But they should look like this:

But there are no default values existing, that match with each DVD.
So to get the right colors for your sub-titles you need to copy the correct values of the original IFO file, to your new IfoEdit'ed IFO file.

Hi I have a similar problem....

I have created a DVD from an xvid using dvdsanta....

I have found some english subtitles and wish to add them to the DVD.

my subtitles appear as black and SubtitleCreator only has purple and black to choose from???

The original VTS_01_0.IFO and the edited one contain the following color values.... how do I correct this???

The previously provided instructions are intended, in keepimg with the rules of these forums, for folks who OWN the ORIGINAL COMMERCIAL DVD...

ok I assume this is due to each dvd utilising a different palette sample perhaps?

Anyway, back to my problem. SubtitleCreator only allows black from 1-15 anf purple as 16. This occurs after you apply the reference IFO from the ORIGINAL.

Any tips? Still lost.

If you have the original, why would you create an inferior DVD from an XviD of the same movie? Just use DVD Shrink, or similar, to make a copy of the original - and, if necessary, follow the instructions previously provided (using IFOEdit) in this thread (although I'd guess the odds are quite good that the original DVD already has English subtitles as an option).

I am just trying to figure out why the color pallete in the IFO is so out of whack. Im just trying to increase my knowledge here and understand the concepts of how this stuff works.

Anyone else offer any suggestions for losermanbr and I to try out?

I'd suggest that, for your specific problem (that is not the same as " losermanbr's") you contact the author/publisher of DVDSanta. You've paid for the software and are, therefore, entitled to an explanation from the source of purchase...
