Bitrate too high from set-top DVD Recorder

I've recorded at TV program onto DVD-RW from my Sony set-top box which has created three files...

    1 .IFO
    2 .BUP
    3 .VRO

That's fine and works fine but I am trying to use a trial version of TMPG Enc Author 1.6 to get this into a format so that I can burn the program to DVD-R using my PC.
I'm not fussy what software to use to do the job - I just want it done.

Everything works fine including creating the menu's UNTIL I click the final button to do the conversion and I get an error saying "combined bitrate too high...".

How can I reduce the bitrate of the combined "image" or reduce the bitrate if the video?

    Any ideas anyone?

You should be able to ignore it. I get the same thing from time to time.

Does a ignore button come up?
