DVD does not start with Menu

    VTS_01_0.VOB
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB
    VTS_01_3.VOB
    VTS_01_4.VOB
    VTS_02_0.VOB
    VTS_02_1.VOB

These are the only files that I have in my directory right now. The problem is that I have no idea on how to make a dvd with the menu included using just these files. I have tried a million and one times, and have gone to as many websites as I could to figure it out. I can make a "movie only" dvd with these files, but I can't a dvd with the menu included. The menu vob is there but I just cannot get it onto the dvd. So I've deleted the ifo files and bup files, and would like to start from scratch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Also, before when I did this I got the message "A menu-vob file was found but there are not menu-tables in this ifo file". So I imported from another movie. Afterwards I did get the menu to start on dvd insertion, but when I click the play button, it only started the menu over again.

Sorry for the long post. Thanks again.

Thanks. I've been trying to use IfoEdit to do this. I'll try to work it out with TMPGEnc tonight. But at least Ive got some direction now. We'll see what happens.

        "Thanks"

        My pleasure ;>}

"I'll try to work it out with TMPGEnc tonight."

Make certain you are using "TMPGEnc DVD Author" and NOT "TMPGEnc", which is an entirely different program...

Well, I've been at it for a while now, but somehow I cannot get DVD Author to load my VTS_01_0.VOB file, which of course is my menu file. DVD Author will only allow me to create a new menu for that movie which kinda sucks. Is there anything or any options that I might be overlooking? I would like to be able to use my menu file, but its just not coming together. Once again, any help would be great. Thanks.

Sorry you feel that way. I was under the impression that making a successful menu driven DVD was your primary objective (Not necessarily using the existing menu)...

It's a great application, and the menu options are awesome, but I was really looking forward to having it as close to the original as possible. This has now become more of a challenge for me, so I'll just have to keep at it.

See if the following link provides a viable solution for you:

The method described works quite nicely, with two caveats, one significant and the other easily resolved:

                1) The menu MUST be contained (as the "VTS_0x_0.VOB") in the same .VOB sequence as the movie

                2) The .VOB sequence MUST be "VTS_01_x.VOB" (If this is not originally the case, you can change to this numbering sequence before using DVDFab's "Create Video Manager" to create the (intentionally) missing "VIDEO_TS.IFO" and "VIDEO_TS.BUP" files

DVD Fab would not accept the .VOB files when trying to create the video manager. It would only accept the VTS_01_0.IFO file. Which if I create using IFOEdit, it creates a file with no menu information. Then when using DVD Fab to open the newly created VTS_01_0.IFO (no menu info), it creates a VIDEO_TS.IFO which also doesn't contain any menu information.

VIDEO_TS.IFO or VIDEO_TS.VOB will not contain any menu info, since all your menus are in your vob files. The thing is, because you got rid of your IFO files, you're going to miss a whole lot of info (for example, chapters).
If I were you, I wouldn't try to start from scratch. Just fix what's not working:
In your first post, you mention that you were able to get to a point where the menu would show when the DVD was inserted but then pressing play wouldn't get you to the movie.
That's a GREAT starting point (I hope you didn't discard that), because you can fix that easily in PgcEdit.

Do this: get PgcEdit (it's free) and try to resurrect the DVD in the state above (where you can start the menu, but pressing play won't do anything). Then load that in PgcEdit, go to the menu PGC (you can preview it to make sure that's the one) and right click and select: InfoGC. Then post that back. There's probably a post-command that's messed up in that menu, which makes the DVD not go to the menu.
You can also investigate yourself in PgcEdit: Start the "Trace" function, which will play the DVD as a player would, but you can watch where it is, and what it's doing. When it gets to the menu, you can press Play and see exactly why it goes back to the menu, instead of playing the movie.
PgcEdit is the best tool for that. Give it a shot, and post back if you can't find a solution.

                    A couple PgcEdit guides
MenuShrink can shrink your menus to 5-10% of their original size.

DVD does not start with Menu

Something to try... It has worked for me:

<>Have you tried NeroVision Express v3.0 (trial is available)? <st1:stockticker></st1:stockticker> This software is <o></o></> good for taking multiple VOB files and adding a MENU (even animated).<o></o>

Many people have asked for a Menu Creator for different <st1:stockticker>DVD</st1:stockticker> VOB files <o></o>

without having to re-encoding or converting to mpeg files, first. This program <o></o>

does it. Be sure to check "enable smartencoding" which skips the vob files<o></o>

already encoded. This option is located under the "Video Options" after<o></o>

pressing "More" at the bottom of the screen.<o></o>

                      <o></o>
