Not sure where you got your 5 discs from.
I'd try TMPGEnc to make them mpeg2's.
TMPGEnc DVD Author to make maybe two DVD structures.
DVD Shrink them if necessary before burning.
If you have a DL burner maybe even the one disc?

I wouldn't touch the resolution. At 640*480 they're a little under the DVD standard.
Try the conversion to MPEG2. Then the structure.
DVD Shrink is for compressing the file size; it doesn't alter the resolution

Your sound may be AC3. If so, try this fix from Setarip:

If it proves to be .AC3:

In TMPGEnc, under the "Environmental Settings" "VFAPI plugin" tab rightclick on the "Direct Show Multimedia Reader" and increase to one greater than the highest priority of listed items.. This will enable TMPGEnc to accept a properly encoded .AVI with .AC3 audio for input...

If this doesn't work, load one of your avi's into VirtualDubMod (freeware) and post here the file info

If not already on your system, download and install an XviD codec, FFDShow filter/code and an .MP3 audio codec...

                        yep got them
                        in TMPGenc's wizard
                        i select dvd
                        then pal
                        then mpeg layer II Audio
                        i then select the files
                        click next
                        then next again
then it comes up to the bit rate setting
now this is where i get lost
i dont want this to take up a whole dvd
what do i do , or what am i doing wrong

                        thanks

Hi Fonts, I've not been around lately - been on the road helping Santa
                          Two suggestions:
Read up www.videohelp.com for info on DVD bitrates and,
experiment with a ReWritable or two to try things out.

"i dont want this to take up a whole dvd what do i do"

You could also look into using the "KVCD" templates for TMPGEnc. For more info on this visit:

                              works faster then tmepeg
