How to add subtitles to a DVD made from DivX?

I convereted my DivX to MPEG2 and made a DVD folder with TMPGEncDVD Author, even converted the DIvX subtitle to .sup, but I have no idea how to add it so that I can see it when the DVD is played on a standalone player... Anyone cares to help?
By the way, is .sup the only supported subtitle format?

(If I remember correctly) IFOEdit in combination with VOBEdit...

By the way, if you want PERMANENT onscreen subtitles, it would probably be easier to first add them (as permanent subtitles) to your original DivX, by using VOBSub in conjunction with VirtualDub or VirtualDubMOD, before converting to DVD format...

was going to post a similar thread. as i would also like to add permanent subtitles. I have vobsub and vdub, but dont know how to do this.
