Help!! DVD Video Setting

I used tmpg dvd author to make a dvd, but when I watch it on my tv the video does not fit on the screen, pieces of the sides are cut off. This wouldn't be such a big problem if the videos I encoded didn't have subtles embedded into it. My question is, are there certian setting I should be putting in tmpg plus when I encode so the video fits on my tv. Thank you for any help you can provide

Had the same problem in Nero Express, but not sure how to fix it though...
Have u set the program to use 4:3, or some automatic mode?
