MenuShrink ver 1.0 - utility for shrinking DVD motion menus to still frames

I can't confirm it. I have the R1 versions of the three LOTR Extended Editions. The menus are smaller. I bet the menu of TTT by glisoni is from a R2 with added languages.

However, for R1 they are still big menus.

LOTR FOTR Disc 1 - 558MB
LOTR FOTR Disc 2 - 671MB

LOTR TTT Disc 1 - 777MB
LOTR TTT Disc 2 - 839MB

LOTR ROTK Disc 1 - 671MB
LOTR ROTK Disc 2 - 777MB

I got TTT Disc 1 down to 6.85MB from 777MB. However, there are numerous repeated stills (like Jackie Brown but much more of them all with tiny buttons). So, I am trying a manual select version to get it further down.



TT disc 2 ended at 8.80MB from 839MB and also has lots of tiny button menus. I try a manual select on that one as well.

@nwg, the part about the tiny buttons is interesting to me. As I told you, if I find that this happens often I can add an option to automatically shrink/skip these guys based on the size of the buttons. Do you get a message from MS mentioning tiny buttons (1x1 pixels)?

I have the code in MS to do that, but I haven't enabled it. If you want to try it, I can send it to you.

A tip.

If you want MAXIMUM shrink - do a VIDChanger first. Use full VOB process mode, fix cell_ID on menu domains (obviously). Then, use VobBlanker or IfoEdit to eliminate unreferenced material (which MS produces a lot of due to its new feature of cell copying over intros and outros).

Yes I get the 1x 1 messages. I would be happy to try a version with the code.

I do have the R2 of Black Hawk Down. I can confirm 1300MB but it is spilt over VTS 1 and VTS 2 with about 650MB for each one and 120MB in the VIDEO_TS.VOB.

Do these cells with tiny buttons have any vid associated with them - or are they just black? I presume the buttons are non-selectable and are NOPs (like the cell I sent r0lZ, jsoto and you the other day, jean). Is the PGC referenced?

Usually, a 1 x 1 button is auto-activated to change pages in the chapter menu with a LinkNextPG, HL button 1 (or LinkPrevPG, HL button whatever).

In jackie brown (the only I was able to look at), there's video with the buttons! It's like a menu intro, except there are buttons!!! (and useless ones of course). I haven't checked which commands are associated with them. The cell belongs to a PGC that is referenced.
Yes, usually you have a 1x1 button with auto activate to change page, but in that case there are other useful buttons!!! MS can detect that ALL the buttons are tiny and decide they're actually useless (and shrink/skip the cell).

I just done Balck Hawk Down and it ended up 9.64MB using manual select and using auto, I got 10MB





It also has tiny buttons at max 4x5. There are four versions of the chapter menu. I just kept the first one when using manual select.

The R2 and R4 of Jackie Brown is the same. They probably even got manufactured in the same factory.
