Conv. avi with ac3 to dvd sync probs

Hi all,

I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out but am at a loss !

I have a 2 part avi (xvid) with ac3 that plays fine normally

I loaded files into Vdubmod 1.5.10.1 build 2429/release (i think this one has the updates) appended together and saved avi into 1 file (direct stream) then I demuxed the ac3. I also ran ac3fix to sort ac3

The resulting joined avi plays fine as 1 file and is in sync - Gspot specs

4cc xvid

Audio ac3 (0x2000)

448kb/s (5ch) CBR 48000Hz

I also rendered in gspot and got

Video (S) --> AVI Splitter --> XviD MPEG-4 Video Decoder --> Overlay Mixer2 --> (R)

Audio (S) --> AVI Splitter --> AC3Filter --> (R)

I loaded CCE and opened the joined avi deselected audio, set mpeg2 for dvd 1 pass cbr Elementry, set 25 fps resize 720x576 set my bitrate, aspect 16:9 and clicked close all GOP's in advanced settings. I got my mpv file which when played back, looked slightly taller when previewed on mplayer.

I then loaded dvd lab and made up a simple dvd with the fixed ac3 which it accepted, tried all this before the ac3fix and dvd lab wanted to fix itself so I tried again now using ac3fix. Once dvd compiled audio was out of sync a few secs

Can anyone help ?? joined avi played fine..

try using DIKO, it can even join your two clip movies and author a DVD for you using the avi files you provide.

Let us know the results..........I am eager to hear how it performs..........

after you encode your video with cce, before you author it use avicodec or Gsopt (both free)and check the length of the video and audio to see if they are the same

techreactor > at this point just having learnt some basics CCE and dvd lab i'd rather go down this route at the moment.

tigerman8u > I did try loading the cce mpg2 mpv into gspot but it gave me no file length properties just actual sizes. How can I check this info ?

try just first making two separate mpegs from the two separte avis and then put both mpegs into dvdlab

I tried loading the mpeg2 file in vdubmod to get properties but it parsed it then just closed, same with a different mpeg2, trying different ver. of vdubmod..

edit : Vdubmod 1.5.4.1 read the mpeg2 mpv file properties

it seems the video is ok I think.. I converted as suggested the avi's to seperate mpegs in cce and did try seperate ac3 files. These were ported in dvd lab with 1st part straight linking onto the next. Dvd lab gave me an error on the 1st part ac3 but not when importing the second. I let it fix the 1 st and compiled it. The dvd when previewed straight after was out of sync on the 1st part but not the second. It seems even when the ac3 has been fixed there's a prob with this part, as it affected the whole joined mpeg2 trial earlier. what can I do next ? do I need to work out a delay somehow is it the ac3 thats the prob ? the joined avi played fine.....
