Vobblanker Question

When using Vobblanker, do you blank PGCs or delete cells or both? And if you delete cells, how do you know which ones to keep versus delete?

And are any decent lay guides on how to use Vobblanker?

Blank the cells or PGCs as the case may be that you don't want. There is a handy preview function. VobBlanker also has a built in help file.

I guess the question is not easy to place since I wonder how many ppl fully understand the structure of DVD, VTS, VGM, Cells etc etc .................. and what do they contain, what will happen if you blank them ...........I guess Questions are many and above that I see thats there no Step-Step guide on Using the VOBblanker, what most ppl here are wanting to know how to blankout their extras, previews and Disclaimers in a simple to use Guide. So that why I requested the moderators to look at creating one

Thanks Blutach, and I appreciate the efforts of the developer for both the Software and its guide but seeing the queries in this forum itself regarding VOBblanker, what I was suggesting is that probably a more simplistic and step by step approach to the guide is required.

I never said its not okay, I said it can be reformatted to be more structured and simplistic probably by taking a sample movie example with detailed description of what each VTS contains and then following through.

Like the link between the VTS, PGC and Cell blanking is not clear, how are they related, how to find for which VTS, what PGC and Cells needs to be blanked and what should be left out. Whats the way to find the relationship between them just like a RDBMS so as not to delete the wrong records

OR

When to use VTS blanking, PGC Blanking and Cell Blanking(when to use either/all ???, is it even required to use all or in combinations???) is not clear, the existing guide is a capability showcase for VOBblanker.

It must be clearer to ppl who are well versed but not to the newbies/beginner/intermediate levels.

Probably you can start helping with a Brief description on all these questions.

You see, there are so many variants - you can blank on a VTS, PGC, cell or even cut on a GOP basis. People just gotta decide what they wanna do.

No-one can prescribe when to blank on a VTS compared to a PGC basis. It's up to the individual as to what he or she wants to do. If you don't want any of the VTS, then you can blank that. In another VTS, a PGC might be giving you the willys - blank that. In a third, it might just be a cell. And in the fourth, you might wanna cut some crap out. All can be done (in one pass), as well as menu blanking/converting to stills.

In my view, there is no "prescriptive" way. But I'll think about it.

VobBlanker, like many other DVD re-authoring tools, is a suck it and see animal. Once you figure out what you wanna blank, it is actually child's play to operate.

Interesting I thought the way to go was to Rip the DVD -->> Blank out the VTS/PGC/Cells using VOBblanker-->> Use Menu Shrink on it -->> use DVD Shrink if required.

How do you Create menu stills using VOBblanker ???

Check in the more settings dialogue to pick how to manage your menus to stills. Then double click on the VTSM concerned (above the titles section) and down the bottom is Reducing PGCs to still settings and then you just click One Still at the side. Confirm if you weant audio or not and let er rip.

There are two ways to reduce to still:
- At PGC level (the one blu is describing). You cannot select individually the I-Frame to keep in each cell. A global selection (first frame, last frame, middle frame...) is used. You can select if you want audio or not.

- At Cell level. This is a little more ellaborated. You can select the exact I-Frame to be used, and even, if you want, you can select the image from a different VOB or a bmp file (very useful if you want to change the menu background, i.e., to completely delete a button). also at cell level, you can select to keep the audio or not.

VobBlanker or PgcEdit

Hi folks,
I have searched and searched and I CAN NOT find a straight answer to my dummy Q.
Q: Do I use Vobblanker first or PgcEdit to Delete or Blank-out parts of Menus and some of the Extra Titles. I have a French Movie which I wnat to keep the subtitles (in English) since I can not speak a word of French and delete some of the extras to gain a better compression.?

Not a dummy question at all!

I use PgcEdit when I wanna blank out whole titlesets. It's so quick and easy - just Ctrl-Del and you're there.

VobBlanker comes into its own where you have have a VTS with say, the main movie and 2 unwanted extras. It can say goodbye to the latter, while keeping the former. It can also keep some extras and blank out others, something PgcEdit can not do (unless they are all in one VTS).

After getting rid of as much as possible in PgcEdit, I ID which other titles I wanna get rid of. Then, I switch to VobBlanker to finish the job
