Sound streams rewiring

Reauthoring a DVD containing different episodes from two DVDs.

To get the merging function in Nero Recode to work the sound streams need to be the same.

The original is on 2 DVDs. It seems that there is something different code used for the two DVDs for the identification of the sound streams.

Those two sound tracks belongs to these ones:





So the question is - can it be done without to much work to do some easy editing to get those two streams in 'line' and not seen as to different streams in DVD Shrink/Nero Recode?

I took a look at the IFO's in IFOEdit, the differences are very small and easy to miss.

In VTS_01_0 the audio stream is:
Audio 1: Svenska (Dolby AC-3) 2ch 48Kbps DRC (ID: 0x80)

In VTS_02_0 the audio stream is:
Audio 1: Svenska (Dolby AC-3) 2ch 48Kbps DRC normal (ID: 0x80)

As you can see the difference is very subtle, the first has an 'unspecified' extension, the second has the extension of 'normal'

All you should need to do is open one of them in IFOEdit, double click on the audio attribute (as shown above) and use the dropdown menu for "Extension" to change it so it matches the other IFO.

In other words they should both be either set to "normal" or "Unspecified". Then save the IFO and re-open the project in DVDShrink and hopefully it will only show one audio stream.

The change can also be made in PgcEdit - double click on a title and then domain stream atrtributes. Easier editing in the GUI. Then save.

that got me started using PgcEdit in the first place, not to mention your other guides and guidance here and at doom9.

You're welcome, but all credit to r0lZ, not me! I just participated on the periphery of the theoretical discussion and did a bit of testing.

BTW: Once 6.1 is released, I will be doing a major update of the PgcEdit help files to ensure the help falls into line with the new menu structure.

Anyway, real nice to meet you. I sure woulda missed nailing that sucker.

I don't want to de-rail cynthia's thread but I'd like to offer my assistance in updating the PGCEdit documentation (although I barely understand 40% of what PGCEdit can do) as I recall reading somewhere you currently didn't have alot of time available. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Will do, thanks Much of it is re-organsiation of the material. Bit of new stuff to add, but the re-org is the main thing.

I do it in Word first and then encode to HTML and then use HTML Workshop to bring it all together. Will get there.
