Hello. I was just wondering, I was going to make a DVD+R DL disk with like 8 different movies on it, but was just curious, how can I do that while maintaining either the original subtitles or the origina captions? The only way I know is to use Super DVD Ripper and burn with Nero but then you lose the subtitles. Maybe you guys know.

Shrink can do it in re-author mode (no menus and remember to set the size to DVD-9) or DVD Remake Pro can merge disks using one click.

Thanks, but just wondering, what will this do? The only way I know is to go into Nero and say New DVD and then open each of the video files. You then make a menu and burn it. I want to keep the subtitles and to something similar. If I use Re-Author in DVD Shrink, that is specific to one disk, right? I wanted to do eight with a menu so that I can select which one to watch. How would this be done? Would I use re-author in Shrink and make the VOB files and then in Nero, load the VOB files seperately as seperate files and make the project from that?CYA Later:

Confused here. I think you are referring to Nero as a burner and not its "authoring" tool, Nero Vision Express.
In this case, Nero Burning Rom (or Express) will be of no help.
You need to merge the 8 disks. Best bet (keeping the menus) is DVD Remake Pro. No question. Here is a guide using 2 disks.

I get it now. However, that is to put a disk back together. I am talking about taking 8 seperate DVDs and putting just the main movies on a DVD-9 disk. Also, how do I burn the disc? I normally use Nero, and say "Burn DVD-Video files to DVD", does that do what I need it to do if that program makes the VOB files? The tool I was referring to earlier was the thing in Nero Smart Start that says "Make new DVD-video disk" or similar. You then select the videos that you want, and I think that supports VOB.
One other question, does the demo version of that program do what I want or do I have to buy it? I prefer to use free tools - I got Nero free with my DVD Burner.CYA Later:

OK, thanks for clearing that up.
The DVD Shrink idea is a good one in this case. See this guide.
Remember to set your target size in DVD Shrink as DVD-9 in Edit-Preferences.
Now, there's just one other thing you need to do and that is set your layer break. VERY important. The best and easiest way to do this is to open your finished project in PgcEdit (see my signature). Then follow this guide to set your layer break and burn with DVD Decrypter (freeware).

The other problem you may run into is that I don't think any of the Nero tools will create menus for you.
One freeware tool that claims to be able to easily create menus is DVD Styler

I thought Nero Vision Express had some sort of basic menu creation? Correct me if I am wrong (which happens a lot )

blu, How could you be wrong, you're a glorious beacon of light! congrats
I really have no clue about 90% of the crap Nero includes now, if it has some module that can make menus now, cool.

Yes, Nero does menus. I use Nero Burning ROM by the way. So in the DVD Shrink method, why do I select size as DVD-9 if I am doing just the main movies and then burning with Nero. Unless you meant a different method. I have no idea. Also, does Nero set the layer break or is there an automatic one, if not, what does that program do? Does it just take the VOB and IFO files and then burn them to a disk?
Sorry if I may seem stupid, I am normally good with software, however, I am not good with DVD hardware or burning, because I want to make sure that the disk will burn and play right.
----Edit----
Never mind, I saw the guide. Never again will I skim-read posts LOL. Anyway, I will mess around with it til I get it to work. Just curious, how do I burn with DVD Decrypter? All I know how to do is decrypt with either Decrypter or Shrink and use "Burn DVD-Video files to disc" in Nero (Burning ROM) to burn.Last edited by drfsupercenter; 12 Oct 2005, 08:00 AM.CYA Later:

Since you're burning to DL media you'll need to set the layer break point. Please see the guide that blutach linked to in post #8. All you'll need to do is set up the paths to the burning tools in PgcEdit and set the layer break, it will take care of the rest

Or you could use ImgBurn which also has its own in-built set your LB option. But I like PgcEdit, cos you can see where you set the LB and pick the best point aesthetically.

I sort-of figured it out, but a couple more questions. One: is there a way to merge two titles? What I mean is: the movie comes with a 20 minute "mini movie" before it, thus being title 2 in which the DVD player opens title one once that is done playing - I just want it listed as one movie, with that under it. Is that possible or not? Another question: When I bought the DL disks I asked one of the associates about burning quality. Basically, he said that burning 6 hours on 2 DL disks will look the same as 12 hours on one disk - is that true, or did I misunderstand? Also, what is the difference between SP (240 mins) and SP+ (360 mins) both called SP on the back of the box?
----EDIT----
OK, I got it to work. However, one concern - I can only fit five of the eight discs to a single DL one. Is that because Nero has better compression than DVD Shrink? Supposedly you can put up to 900 something minutes on a single disc... but of course I want good quality. Suppose I put 4 movies on each disc? Also, what about what I said before about what the associate said and the mini-movies?Last edited by drfsupercenter; 13 Oct 2005, 04:49 AM.CYA Later:
