OK the very first time when I started making dvds ( back in about Feb ) I had this same problem, at that time I was using ULEAD DVD Studio. Problem was that the files would be in sync on the comp but out of sync when I tried it in the dvd player, then I was able to solve this problem by switching to Tmpgenc DVD Authorand that solved the problem. Earlier this week I did a fresh install of XP on this comp, installed the same version of TDA that I had been using before, authored a disc and it was out of sync, so I unchecked the option when you load the file where it says to reencode the audio to output format and still I get the same problem ( the first dvd I reencode the audio to output format of course ) So I tried a newer version of TDA and tried both options again and still the same error. Then I thought maybe somehow there is a conflict somewhere with my OS and TDA so I switched over to ULEAD DVD and its still out of sync. I've wasted a bunch of dvds already. Please Ideas people.

Is the audio out of sync the same amount all the way through?
Have you checked your total bitrate is not higher than that allowed by the specs (10.08Mbps for video, all audio and subs).

eh come again with the bitrate ? The total bitrate for each file is 2600, 2200 for video and 400 for audio. And there are 5 files in total. I've always had it this way and never had a problem until the format. What would happen is that it would start out in sync then go out and doesn't come back. Is there maybe a codec I'm missing ? I have sticky's mpeg 2 and ummm AC3CM or something like that, think I have some other one also. Is there a codec specifically required by TDA ?Comment

Not to my knowledge. You didn't select the wrong format - NTSC vs PAL?

What are the source files? Are they in sync? To prevent wasting a bunch of blanks try viewing the compilation in a Software program on the computer before burning the disc. I recommend PowerDVD or the best freeware Software player Media Player Classic

The source is rmvb, don't say it sucks, I've been doing it for months and its been working until the reformat. It doesn't matter when weather I use a prog or not to view it on the comp because it will be in sync on the comp, even the authored files I check are in sync on the comp.Comment

Have you tried to mock strip the titleset? See my signature for a link. Till this is solved, use an RW to burn, OK?

Ok so I have a little update, I decided to take a look at the files that I made a while back by ripping them back to mpg from there mpg, opened them up to see what the difference was.
This picture here is a file I made last night
This one here is the older one
Now as far as I can tell, the only difference other then different version of tmpgnec is that in the OLDER file I used AC3 to encode ( and it says I have the codec installed ) and the NEWER file used MPEG1-Layer 2 for audio, I think this might be where the problem is ? How do I choose AC3 for the audio codec ? I do the same thing for the older file as I do in the newer file in TMPGENC I just load and encode and don't mess with the setting. Now is there a chance that the older file has the AC3 setting because when I encoded it to dvd with TDA and burnt it it has ac3, so when I re-rip it back to the HD it has ac3 showing, while the other file is just a plain encode and not yet authored ?Comment

NTSC DVD-video must use AC-3 or PCM on at least one track to be spec compliant AFAIK, so the MPEG audio is likely the problem. Sorry I don't know which setting you need to change in TMPG DVD Author to encode the audio as AC3, but if nothing else you could use BeSweet to re-encode the audio as AC3.
