DVD won't play for newbie

I have recorded some DVD-R discs and they play in my Pioneer machine fine. However, they won't play in other machines even though they are supposed to be compatible with DVD-Rs. I'm using Decrypter and DVD Shrink. Does anyone have a clue what I might be doing wrong in my recording process. Or perhaps have other suggestions.

the discs are fine obviously as they play fine in one player, not all players will play all media types(brands). switch media. to find out media compatibility for your specific player(s) go to videohelp.com and look under "dvd players"

Thanks for your response. Videohelp.com confirms that the payer is compatible w/ DVD-R discs. There is no mention of brand type to use. Generally speaking what would you suggest as a good brand to use(not too expensive of course). Currently, I'm using Maxell.

sony, verbatim are quite good. what are the make and model#'s of the problem players? what speed did you burn these discs at?

One player is a Panasonic SC-PM39D and the other was a brand new Toshiba bought at Cosco, but I don't know the model. I don't know the speed they were recorded at, I just use the defaults as I'm new to this whole process. Is there a speed I should use? DVD Shrink automatically switches to Nero 6 for the burn.

the slower the speed the better. videohelp.com is basiclly useless in the way of media info for the panasonic
