I have been using a Philips DVDR72-17 recorder to record live meetings and events where I work. I've discovered that if I let it burn the DVD right to the end, the DVDR72-17 does not save the room it needs to add the TOC and other info it adds when it finalizes, and will not finalize, leaving me with a useless unreadable disc. Is there a process or a program or tool that will enable me to finalize these discs, or to recover the video from these overfilled un-finalized DVD+R's?

Yep a firmware update might help as corny suggested. My concern is that you said your burning these discs to the max - in which case are you perhaps leaving no space to close the disc ?"There will come a moment when you have the chance to do the right thing......"
"I Love those moments - I like to wave at them as they pass by...."
Stop !! Before you post read this !

Not sure if this will work, but worth a try. The DVD probably does not have any sort of copy protection since you made it, so opel it in Windows Explorer and drag it to a folder on the HD. Then, open Nero (www.nero for trial) and say "Make Your Own DVD-Video". Then click Add Files and select VTS_01_1 or whatever VOB you want and wait for it to load. It should then load the VOB files as you load them. Just burn it and viola! And if you are one of those people who doesn't like Nero for some reason, just use it for now and then you can rip that DVD and use TMPGENC DVD Author to make menus and stuff.
Let me know if this works!CYA Later:

Well, if it cannot be read by the machine that recorded it I am not sure it was burned at all...CYA Later:
