Editing a DVD (replacing the video stream)

Hello,

I have this old black & white movie on DVD which has lots of scratches and spots in it so I decided to do a little cleanup with AviSynth which went quite smooth.

Now I would like to re-insert the resulting .avs stream into the DVD, keeping the menus, chapters and audio streams as they are, only replacing the video stream.

Is there any easy way of doing this?

i've never used it myself, but i believe 'dvdremake' can do the job http://www.dvdshrink.info/dvdremake.php

Easiest is to remux your m2v (I guess that's what you have) with your audio and subbies streams with muxman - see link in my signature. You will also need a celltimes.txt file for chapters - this can be generated in PgcEdit from the original disk.

I was wondering about the chapter indexes because the re-encoded MPEG2 of course wouldn't have the same size as the original. The trick with the cell-times should do it I guess, sounds good!

you're right about size!

the size of the re-encoded movie change, but not the time.
i'm right that you can follow blutach's advices.
