Fixing a DVD

Got another question for the experts. I have a DVD that I got from a summer camp that I went to a couple months ago that has a faulty menu. In the scene selection, it says like Blah Video (You get the idea) and when you select it, it jumps to the same title that the previous menu item did. The camp recognized this and just told people to go to that title by using the Chapter Next button - but that is for Chapters. How can I fix the menu so it jumps to the correct title when I select that item?

You'll need to edit the menu in PgcEdit. This is not easy for someone who does not understand VM programming.

No, I do not understand VM programming. Would it be easier to re-author it in Nero or something and make a new menu from scratch (since the menus are still, I could just make them JPEGs and then re-insert them in Nero)

Tell you what. Post your IFOs in a zip file. How big is your menu (Mb)?

Fully explain what button is doing the wrong thing.

Alright, they are attached. The menu (at least the VIDEO_TS file) is 114 KB. I doubt that that is accurate - I do not think the menu is VIDEO_TS, this is a very odd DVD - PgcEdit came up with numerous errors when opening.

What it does is this - there are four categories (the names of the camps). When you go to the one that says Copper Country, there are two options. The first is the Closing Day video. The other is the main highlight video. When you click on Highlights it opens Closing Day, as does clicking on Closing Day. What it SHOULD do is jump to title 10 when you click on highlight videos. Here are some screenshots as well:

Ohhh. Sorry, I seem to have hotlink protection enabled. I will remove the hotlink protection so the links will work for the pics. As for the menus, what will the menushrink do - will the one you fix for me be a shrunk one too or will I be able to keep the original motion menus?

Once I download menushrink, I will shrink it for you.

I removed the hotlink protection and downloaded Menushrink. Anyway, how do I find out which VTS file is the menu? There are a lot of them. Do I open each VOB file in PowerDVD?

This is the worst authored DVD! After each title is finished, the DVD just stops dead!!!

I presume you want it to go back to the calling menu, right?

Here's your new IFOs

1. Go into MenuShrink and do a restore backup. This will get you back to where you started from.

2. Copy the attached IFOs and BUPs to your project folder.

3. Open VTS_01_0.IFO in IfoEdit and do a menu mock strip - follow the directions in the link in my signature.

4. This will result in 3 new files in a new destination folder, which need to be moved to your project folder. (VTS_01_0.IFO/BUP/VOB)

5. Open the project in PgcEdit. Say yes if it offers to fix streams.

6. Save in PgcEdit.

7. Test in software player and burn.

8. Give a huge kick in the pants to whomever "authored" this DVD.

LOL. Like I said, this DVD was from a summer camp. Dunno what they used but looks like they were better sticking to VHS like they did in previous years.

Anyway, I will try the new one.

The nav has been fixed. But you must follow exactly the procedure outlined above to get it to work.

When you burn, do it first on a RW to make sure.
