Help with converting

I have used all the advice that I have been given here and everything worked great. Thanks.

Now, I have one more thing I need. I need to covert my DVD files to an MPEG. I need this done so I can import them to another program in order to edit the DVD.

The files are currently on my hard drive. There are 6 files per movie in the video TS folder.

I already downloaded and used VOB2MPG and it worked ok, but it is lacking sound. The image is great, unlike Main Concept. Image there was not so good.

So, I need to know what I can do to convert my Video TS into an MPEG. I have read a lot here but I am not sure what to do.

A VOB IS an MPEG - just a special sort. Just concatenate them into one big file and change the extension to .MPG To concatenate them, use the DOS copy command. In a DOS box, type copy/? for instructions (down the bottom).

i suppose you could even re-rip the DVD into one vob with shrink, then rename that too...

Or mount it with Daemon Tools and rip it with DVD Decrypter no file splitting. But copy will work.

You could try Super DVD Ripper as well - that is what I use.

Copy is a dos command.

Start → Run → Copy/?

Read what it says and do it.

For example: Copy VTS_01_1.VOB + VTS_01_2.VOB + (etc) DAN.MPG (Note the space before DAN.MPG)

blu's method is much easier IMO, works 100% of the time. joining mpeg streams is a hidden power of windows. there are not many others

Ok, I am really stumped here now.

In the video TS folder for my movie, there are 6 seperate files. Each movie the files are all the same. Which of the 6 do I join? How does the program know if all these are the same?

One is VTS_01_1
Two are VTS_01_0
The other 3 are Video_TS

Open the folder in Windows Explorer. Alt-PrtScreen. Open MSPaint. Ctrl-V. Save as (filename) with filetype PNG.

Then go to www.imageshack.us and upload it and post the hotlink for forums(1) here.

Here it is:

There is nothing to concatenate. The movie is contained in the one that is 1,039,998KB. The others are IFO and BUP files (but you have file extensions hidden - one of Windows's silliest defaults, IMHO). To show the extensions, go to Tools → Folder Options → View and UNTICK "Hide extensions for known file types".

So, if you want an MPEG of this one, just do the above and change the extension to MPG.


But if you want to join a few of these (say 4 projects - Cobras, Eagels, Sharks etc) to burn, then you need to do the above AND THEN:

1. Bring them all into a new folder but under different names (they will all be named VTS_01_1.VOB) so you can't bring them all in the one folder - they will overwrite each other if the names are the same. So rename them to XXX.VOB, YYY.VOB, ZZZ.VOB etc. Hope you get the drift here.

2. Then concatentate them as I explained above into one big one called DAN.MPG
