I am making the second disc of those "MegaDVD"s I was making. Attached are the IFO files - I keep getting that error about "can't find the first VMG sector" even though I remade it but I can re-shrink. My question (primarily for blutach) is how much do I have to shrink the titles by this time to get the layer break to occur in an ideal spot (like between titles 2 and 3)? Again, it is 100% max. size for a DL disc because I used DVD Shrink in Re-Author and it compressed to the exact size of a DL disc.

You got problems again drf
Da rules:- Layer 0 MUST have more data than layer 1
- Each layer can hold a max of 2,086,912 sectors
- Layer break can only be at a cell boundary
Here's the rub:
VIDEO_TS.IFO and BUP takes up 8 sectors (16kb)
VTS_01 takes up 938,737 sectors
VTS_02 takes up 970,859 (total so far 1,909,604)
Now, your whole disk takes up 4,159,485 sectors, so we can't break now (as much as we'd like to cos then L1 would be more than L0). You with me so far?
So, we look deeper into VTS3. First the IFO goes on L0 (54kb=27 sectors).
Then comes the VOB:- Cell 1 = 46,777 - L0 now has 1,956,408 and remaining = 2,203,077 (still can't break)
- Cell 2 ends at sector 100,812 - L0 now has 2,010,443 and remaining = 2,149,042 (still can't break)
- Cell 3 ends at sector 193,286 - L0 now has 2,102,907 and remaining = 2,056,568 (OK, we break after cell 3!!!)
BUT!!!!! Each layer can only contain 2,086,912 sectors
So you can't make a LB.
You need to split cell 3 so it works. DVD Remake Pro can do this in a jiffy for you, but you'll need to calculate the exact sector since you insist on filling the disk to almost capacity.
Now, to answer your question, I would shrink Title 3 and title 4 each by 18%. In this way, they will have about 1,845,000 sectors between them and you can easily break at title 3.
EDIT: Attached are new IFOs which have proper navigation to play all files. Just substitute them and open them and save them in PgcEdit.

OK. Wow - 18% is a lot compared to the 5% of the other one - does this happen because the movies came from dual layer discs to begin with?CYA Later:

It happens due entirely to the analysis shown above. Just titles and 4, leave 1 and 2 alone. If you wanna leave them as is, do as I suggested and use DVDRMP.

OK. The reason the navigation was bad BTW is because I simply re-build the DVD and did that for the sake of you telling me how much to compress by

Yet another Dual Layer burning question
This is mainly aimed at blutach, but on the second of those DVDs, you said to shrink titles 3 and 4 by 18% each, which I did. I set the layer break from that, but the quality on title 4 is pretty low. Title 3 is fine, because it started off higher or something, but is there a way that I could shrink title 4 by a lesser amount, maybe in conjunction with another title? See, when I went to set the layer break, there were around 8 possibilities, I only need 1. That is why I asked.
I have attached the IFOs with correct navigation.Attached FilesCYA Later:

Let's keep this thread together (I have merged it).
What is the resultant bitrate of title 4?
You can try different combos - say title 3 = 20% and title 4 = 10% shrinking and see how that works.

Hmmm. Would shrinking titles 1 and/or 2 make a difference? Like I was saying, when I shrink titles 3 and 4 by 18% there are tons of options for layer breaks, which probably means that it does not need to be shrunk that much.CYA Later:

NO! Defininitely leave them alone. They fit nicely on L0. What is the BR of T3 and T4 after shrinking? what are you watching these on?

I will do that later, but may I ask, why does the bitrate matter? I just am curious if there is a way to shrink title 4 by a lesser amount.CYA Later:

It matters so you can get the best quality and decide what to shrink - if T3 is high, it can be shrunk by more. See the Compression Explained FAQ in my signature.
