    Yet I am stuck

I have converted my homemade DVD's from VOB to MPG files.

Now, I am trying to edit them into a highlight video.

With Windows movie maker it will not break the MPG into little clips.

Or, Premiere will not open the file.

I do not know what to do. I am getting so frustrated and have spent many hours on this.

Use Ulead Video Studio for that. It doesn't work on VOB but use those MPG files and you can burn them right to DVD from Ulead.

Or you can get a trial of Tsunami DVD Author, then you just use the VOB files and do not lose quality, that program will do what you want also.

        I did that.

With WMM it will not load as seperate clips. It keeps going through its cyles until I "Cancel" it.

I do not know what going on with Premiere. When I load it, I should see the video in one of the screens, but there is nothing there.

        Thanks

I have downloaded a ton of programs in the past week to get my project going. None seem to work.

The problem seems to be that WMM is not recognizing aspects of the MPG and not allowing me to break it down into clips.

As drfsupercenter has already posted. Tsunami DVD Author (also called TMPGenc DVD Author) will accept both MPG and VOB files. You can the make clips and burn to DVD.

            Free 30 day trial.

Thought Premiere only works well with .avi's?

We use Ulead Video Editor for editing mpegs

                DON'T convert anything!

If you're trying to create this "highlight video" as a DVD and if you've got plenty of hard drive space:

Copy all of your original homemade DVDs to your hard drive. Then use DVD Shrink in "Re-author" mode to select the desired clips from each of them - and save your compilation as a new DVD
