VOBblanker-----Delete or to Blank ???

Is it better to Blank out the not required VOB's/Cells or Better to delete them altogether???.

Also once I put the DVD through VOBBlanker, DVD shrink and then PGCEdit it gives a prompt about a lot of discrepencies in the DVD Structure, basically related to streams....is it because I remove the additional streams in Shrink or cos of VOBBlanker ???.

Blank.delete? - I don't think it matters, only that the cells, if blanked, are MPEG2 compliant (it is).

The streams discrepencies are exactly because you have removed them in DVD Shrink - just answer yes to PgcEdit's suggestions.

I've been getting a lot of stream errors after ripping a DVD and then loading up in PgcEdit. Poor, authoring I guess?

If it's straight after a rip, yes. Not a big deal, it's just a table filled with rubbish. It happens - you often see 32 subbie streams filled with junk.

I usually use the delete. like blu stated I don't see much difference.

Okay, I went with the PGCedit recommendations but now when I press my Root/Title menu button in the remote, the display on my DVD player screen changes to '0itle'. Nothing wrong with the playback or anything else, its just the display, but I was wondering is their a way to check all these display text and correct them manually.

That is not a PgcEdit thing. Some other gremlin at work.

On 2nd thought, I think it better to blank. The reason here would be if you blanked a title (e.g. an extra) and played it via the menu, it finds some video, plays it (for 0.4 seconds) and returns nicely. If there's no video there, the title is not compliant - there must be SOME video associated with a title.

Similarly with a menu VOB. You want the menu to function properly. If you encounter a link to next program/cell that has no video, you might get a dead stop.

jsoto and r0lZ can offer more expertise on this, but I think I'd keep it at blank. What's 10k anyway?

As far as unreferenced material goes, I blank the cells in the middle of the VOB and delete a block that is at the end (the "last ones") of a VOB.

I'm sure jsoto will tell us that VobBlanker will not delete anyway if it screws up anything. He really does cover all bases.

In short, it is normally always OK to delete a cell only if there is no gap in the VOB/Cell ID sequence.
For example, in an original sequence such as this one:
1/1 1/2 1/3 2/1 3/1
You may safely delete the V/CID 1/3 and 3/1, or everything but 1/1.
On the other hand, you cannot delete 1/2 and 2/1 if you want to keep 1/3 and 3/1.

Most apps are happy even with gaps in the VOB or Cell IDs, but some are more picky.

If you set the 'Use blank cells in unrefer "middle" ones' option and clear the 'Use blank cells in unrefer "last" ones' option, you are safe.
