    Please Help!What next?!

Im new to this so bare with my ignorance please.

I have ripped several dvd movies to my hard drive using smartripper, dvd decrypter, and clad dvd xp with the intentions of burning them to a dvdr using a Philips dvd+rw-Do1, which came with my new dell 8200 system. I have downloaded trial versions of Dazzle dvd complete, ulead dvd movie factory, and had My dvd 3.0 bundled with my software. Can anyone tell me if I can burn .vob files (and if not, why, just for curiosity's sake), or if I need to do something to these files first so the authoring software will accept and write them to the dvdr? If I do need to convert them or reencode them, or whatever, what program do I need to get the best quality as I don't really need to make the files much smaller since so far the movies I have ripped do not exceed 4.7 gig. Any and all help would be appreciated!

    Thanks,

There is a guide on this site for burning DVD less than 4.7GB. If you have the vob files ripped to your hard drive and they are less than 4.7GB then you DONT need an authoring software.

First I would recommend you use PowerDVD to watch the movie from your hard drive. Don't open the VOB file that wont tell you anything. Use the option View DVD movie on my hard drive. The menus/movies should load up. Make sure they do. Make sure you can navigate, fast forward, skip chapters etc. YOU ARE PLAY TESTING SO YOU DON'T BURN A USELESS FILE

Next follow the guides instructions for the burning software of your choice. The 3 popular ones right now are Nero, VOB Instant DVD, and Primo/Prassi DVD. I would burn your first movie to a DVD-RW if you got one. Make sure you can at least watch it on your PC (most settops don't like RW). If you can't check the settings on your burning software.

If everything is good burn another copy to a DVD-R and try it on various set tops. If it doesn't work take it with you to a best buy and try it on various DVD players. Not all of them work, and not all of them work with all medias.

    Hope this helps
