So, does anyone have any idea how to make the PAL one have the exact same time as the NTSC one when converted, so that I can put the chapters back in the same places?

So, is there a way to use DGPulldown to do a 3:2 pulldown or whatever, which slows the movie down by 4%, reducing the PAL Speedup?CYA Later:

As I said, you options are:
AssumeFPS:
Recovers the original length (but needs correction on the audio/subs before muxing)
See http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.ph...603#post139603
In this case the total # of frames are the same than the PAL DVD (before 3:2 pulldown), so the relative position of the chapters (measured in frame #) is exactly the same.
About how to correct the audio/subs timing..., well I'm not familiar with this procedures...
Audio: I always use BeSweet, which is able to correct the timing (using ssrc, affecting the pitch or soundtouch w/o affecting the pitch). But if you want to convert from ac3 to ac3, not sure if BeSweet will work fine...
Subs: Again, I do not know the right tool, but there are many.. Tou can try subadjust..
You can try DVD2DVD proggie. It will manage the chapters and subs for you. But the audio will be mp2. It does not reencode ac3 to ac3 (BTW, there is a plugin, written by Nick for ac3 to ac3 conversion, but it also uses beSweet: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.ph...221#post733221 )
DGPulldown:
The length will be the same (the speedup one). No needs audio/sub correction.
Chapters have to be adjusted in their framenumber, but not in time.
Subs do not need to be corrected in timing, but may be in their relative position... Use jeanl proggie for this.
I cannot help you much more... I never did a PAL to NTSC conversion...

Hmmm... now, what would happen if I took the audio from the NTSC DVD (right length), and subs from it as well, and used MuxMan to mux them into the PAL DVD (now the same length as NTSC, but widescreen)? Would that work? But thanks for the links.
Wow, that method is very confusing! Still haven't been able to figure it out. Is there an easier way to do this?
The way I figure, the NTSC fullscreen has X frames at 29.97 frames per second resulting in X time.
The PAL one has X frames at 25 fps making X time.
If you take each frame and make it 29.97 fps instead, wouldn't it still have X time (providing the frames are the same for both movies)?
I ran this analysis on the movies:
NTSC Version has 114280 frames
PAL Version has 114442 frames
So, basically, these are very close to each other. Is there a way to extract all the frames from the PAL video, then just put it back, frame by frame (VDubMod can do this), at 29.97 fps? That would probably make it be the same time as the NTSC, thus I could easily mux the audio.Last edited by blutach; 7 Jan 2006, 12:09 PM.CYA Later:
