VOBblanker question/Blanking multiple cells?

Can you use VOBblanker to blank multi cells in a main movie file for the purpose of getting rid of nudity, or bad language, or terribly gruesome parts?... the things that children shouldn't be subjected to?... I did this on one movie, but the audio and video wasn't in sync thru some/most of the movie. (and that was just from one cut!)...
And also, is there a way to preview it, the way you cut it, before you process??..
What settings do you use for this??..
I can't find a very detailed post on these subjects, or even on any VOBblanker website.

Yes, you can but the video in the cells might not be in the same timeline that you want to blank and you might blank out more than what is required as it depends on how the DVD is authored.

For your requirements I would suggest that you use the "prev/cut" function just to crop those few seconds of video.

the default settings work fine...usually.

You may find DVD Remake Pro easier to use for this operation, as VobBlanker can only cut on a GOP basis once per process, so it will take quite a bit of time if you have many cuts (DVD Remake Pro can do it all in one).

VobBlanker is the closest thing you're gunna get Cat. But it will take multiple stages.

Muxman is for something else entirely.

Okay.... I'll try Vobblanker again. But I don't think it will take me long to get irritated using that (I've already been playing with it).... I'll probably end up buying DVD remake pro.

VobBlanker cuts the VOB in a brute way...That means, it can produce a/v synch problems, depending on how the original VOB is authored...

One way to minimize the problem is to split the cell into 2 different ones. After the split you can cut away the last part of the 1st cell (or the first part of the 2nd cell), and change the seamless flag in the PGC. AFAIK, this should guarantee no problems in a/v synch...

I'll read up more about this on your website... I have no idea where to start when it comes to splitting cells,.. I've never tried it before. I can do the blanking with no probs.. but I want to learn how to cut out a lot of the nasty scenes of some movies, that I don't want my kids to watch, but yet leave enough so the movie is still interesting...

You guys are just way too smart... it's hard to keep up sometimes!

Splitting a cell is a new feature of 2.1 There (still) are not guides on it, and probably will need additional work on pgcEdit, so, IMHO, it is for advanced users.. In any case, using VobBlanker to do a lot of cuts is not an easy job.

May be it is a good idea to put in my todo the Cell cut feature, to help in this multiple cut process.

So, probably the best option for you is go to DVDRemake pro, or use dvdshrink in a multiple cut dvd-reauthor mode.

Blu, do you know it DVDRemake cuts are done in a brute way (so it can also have a/v synch problems) or they are done in a more smart way ?

In any case the ddvdshrink method can be a good choice...
dvdshrink output is a multi-title (one title per cut), so it will not have a/v synch problems...

DvdReMake cuts will not cause any sync problems. Actually there is no "cut inside" option as such. All cuts are done with "cut to here" (removes part of a cell from start to current preview position), "cut from here" (from current preview position to the end of a cell) and "split here" (splits into two cells, fixes all the needed disk navigation to keep original playback) with one of the previous.
