Software to capture video from VCR

Ulead Video Studio can do this, as can Pinnacle.

I can send you AM Capture if you like. It came with my capture card... just a little Microsoft capturing app. Also, Windows Movie Maker can do this, and is free.

Moviemaker keeps erroring out and wont start the capture.

Hi ajp,

ATI All in Wonder card won't let you capture copy protected VHS movies directly. You need a what so called Video Stabilizer. I include the link for information about what you need to use in conjunction with ATI card

I just tried pinnacle, it was a trial but man it is sweet. I may have to shell a few bucks out. I will give those others a look see also.

AM Capture is free, it came bundled on the Studio 9 CD when I bought my capture card. It is not as high-tech as Pinnacle but give it a try before buying anything. Just a note: video captured in AVI format from Pinnacle can NOT be burned with Nero, it gives you a "no video data" error. You gotta burn with Pinnacle which takes too long and doesn't make a menu. But for me I don't mind. Didn't know if you minded or not.

Now if you really wanted to burn with Nero, you could always open the AVI in VirtualDub and recompress it as DivX or something.
