The Join a Flipper works well when ripping larger titles from different DVDs to separate folders in HDD and using VobEdit to reset VOB-IDs and join them together. But we use DVD Shrink to save a few short parts in one DVD ( EX: saving a few preferred songs in a music DVD), it is totally time consuming job to save these parts to different folders one by one. It's so much quicker to use DVD Shrink's compiling technique in my guide to compile the selected song and back them up in only one folder, join them together with VobEdit without worrying about resetting VOB-IDs, and run FixVTS to fix its invalid error. Actually, it's DVD Shrink's imperfect job in compiling diffrent titles into a single title DVD. Nero Recode doesn't do a complete job either in merging titles although we don't have to do the Mock Strip, Get VTS sectors, or FixVTS after

Nero Recode does a fair job.I did one using it.But I had to recreate the IFOs using IFOEDIT and replace the ones made by Recode with the newer ones.
@Blu,I read ur link and that was what I was referring to earlier.
@Ben ,u r right about the advantage of using Shrink when merging selected portions from DVD.
BTW,I solved the subtitle colour problem.Opened in IFOEDIT and changed the HEX values of the subtitle part making them similar to the original.

Actually Nero promised that the time delay in the Merge Title would be fixed in Nero 7. But that problem is still there. That why we still have to use IfoEdit to re-create the new set of IFO files. I know that Nero Recode is still better in combining (No need to rename VOB files or run the Mock Strip or FixVTS for Invalid Data problem). I made this guide with all the free tools with the intention mainly to help someone who doesn't own Nero. It will take more steps for him to do but at least he can have it done

I just had to step in here to thank Ben also for this thread. I had been trying to find a way to get rid of that 'time delay' at the edited points and was spinning in place with all the recommendations I was getting with no success. THATS when I found this thread, forget exactly what I typed into the search function, but, boy am i glad I found this tutorial!! Exactly what I was looking for.
I ran it thru vobedit, then thru ifoedit, and WHALLA, Smoooooth!

I did however have the same issue with the subtitles and will try to run it thru DVDSubEdit and see if I can get it done.

            Anyways, Thanks again Ben!!

Glad that it worked for you and thank you for using my guide. Haven't tried subtitle's color correction yet. I have a tiny guide which I saved a while ago about how to edit subtitle's font and color with IfoEdit. Please download and read it. Hope that it can lend you a hand:

Hey, Thank YOU!! For sharing your guide. And thank you for your ifoedit subtitle color correction guide. Worked like a charm. Went from the blurry green subtitles to black and crisp.
I was all set to try DVDSubEdit, but had to go down the road, and when I came back I seen your post with your ifoedit guide. Never needed to use DVDSubEdit.
                Thanks again Ben, Cheers

Then I'll give it a go also. I have a duplicate copy of the movie I put through this process, in another folder and will see some of the DVDSubEdit options as well. Cheers.

I tried DVDSubEdit, and it's cool and all,; (to change the color, move the subtitles down on the screen, and other stuff), BUT, I can't seem to get the modified changes to 'apply to all'. I could only do 1 frame at a time.?! Actually the version I got doesn't have the 'apply to all' button.
                      Am I doing something wrong?

The way I did it with ifoedit seemed so easy, Am wondering why in DVDSubEdit I can't get all the subtitles to change to the modifications I made to the first subtitle? Doing it one by one is not worth the effort if ifoedit does the basic job quickly.

However if I could find out how to apply the changes to ALL the subtitles without having to go one by one, DVDSubEdit would be a fantastic tool!

Yeah thanks, I did manage to figure out how to use that, but can't seem to get all the changes to stick. I got the blurry green to change to a readable green and managed to move the subtitles down to the bottom of the screen, But, I couldn't get the color to change to blue. It just stays green with a flickering effect on some, making some of the subtitles unreadable for a split second.

I am gonna keep trying to see if I can 'work' this program. I'm probably doing something incorrect. Maybe I'll post to jeanl and see if I'm doing everything correctly.

The ifoedit fix that Ben taught me was quick and extremely easy, although I couldn't edit the subtitles the way I was seeing with DVDSubEdit. Just gotta do DVDSubEdit correctly and maybe I'll do it with another movie I try to edit.
                            Cheers

Guys, you can't do the same thing with DVDSubEdit that you do with IFOEdit!!! You have to understand a bit:
                              - Subpics have 4 pixel types used for background, text, anti-aliasing etc.
                              - Each of these pixels is assigned an index into the Color Lookup Table stored in the IFO (the CLUT).
                              - The assignment is defined in the VOB file, NOT in the IFO, and therefore, not changeable with IFOEdit.
                              - The CLUT is defined in the IFO, not in the VOB and DVDSubEdit won't let you change the CLUT.

                              So....
To change the pixel color, you can either
                              - In DVDSubEdit, assign one of the 16 available colors in the CLUT. OR
                              - In IFOEdit (much easier with PgcEdit in fact), change the CLUT colors...

The IFOEdit of course gives you much more flexibility, since you can pick any color whatsoever, whereas with DVDSubEdit, you will pick from the 16 colors defined in the CLUT...
                              jeanl
                              A couple PgcEdit guides
MenuShrink can shrink your menus to 5-10% of their original size.

                                @benbryant

I was reading this interesting thread again last night and came across something which puzzled me. In post 6, you mention there are 15 chapters, while in post 1, you reckon you took only 6 chapters.

How come we get 15 chapters in the output?
