    Authoring software with subtitle-support

My favourite way of making a DVD-backup (to DVD-R) is to demux the movie into a *.m2v and *.ac3, using SmartRipper. If needed i use the TMPGEncoder to reencode the *.m2v to a lower bitrate, to fit a DVD-5 disc. After that I author a new dvd, using SpruceUp, because it supports 6-channel-ac3-streams!!!

This gives me a nice dvd-backup, without the annoying menus, (that don't work anyway) like I would have if I would have used IfoEdit. IfoEdit is a nice piece of programming, but it leaves you with a dvd that has so clearly been tampered with.

Problem is my native language is dutch and I 'd like to keep the dutch subtitle track and maybe even the director's comments! How can I possibly do this? Any authoring-software in mind? Or maybe I should author as usual and use an other tool to multiplex subtitle-streams into my vob, which might give problems considering that the new vobs created by spruceUp are not the same as the originals!
Maybe the only possibility is to add the subtitles directly to the *.m2v ... if so what kind of software does this job ?
Or maybe IfoEdit can come to the rescue in some sort of way ???

    THANKS IN ADVANCE,
I am sure someone must have had the same problem

    DVD Wise/Junior

After some browsing, it seems that DVD Wise and DVD Junior seem to be able to mux substitle streams.

Someone here with experience with these packets ?

      Subtitles

Indeed DVD Wise does the job, with a subtitle generator, but the files that are generated here are in *.txt format

      eg.

      00:00:17:25&00:00:18:10#as a physician,
00:00:18:26&00:00:20:24#as the Surgeon General of the United States,
      00:00:21:08&00:00:22:06#and as a patient,
00:00:22:22&00:00:24:08#is that understanding a health problem
      00:00:24:22&00:00:25:20#can make a real difference.

Any idea how I can rip em in this format ????

I am getting closer, hope this isn't a dead end

          DAIKIN REELDVD

          Subtitle support seems ok,
SST-2 scripts, I know very little about subtitles,
but if those can be ripped right of the dvd it would be superb.

          BUT:

          Audio Format Support :
          Dolby Digital stereo
          MPEG-1 Layer II stereo
PCM, WAV, AIFF 16-bit, 48 KHz stereo
Automatic stereo Dolby Digital transcoding from PCM and MPEG-1 Layer II source material.

I am not going to author a dvd using stereo sound only!!!!!

          TNX anyway,
i keep looking out for the best solution
