How DVD-9 into 2 DVD-5 & Keep Menus

then use this DVDshrink guide for splitting into 2 DVD.

Both guides are interactive, so will be easy to understand.

You can use your DVD player remote to diasplay the subtitles for the DVD. You cannot keep menus with this method.

You can gain more compression % if you use VOBblanker to remove extras and Menushrink to still menus. Then using DVD shrink might help.

You need to use VOBblanker for splitting with menus on first DVD or use commercial softwares, otherwise re-encode everthing using DVD rebuilder for better quality and Menu.

Q1: Paglamon ... can DVDRemake Pro really squeeze 3 hours of movie onto a DVD-5 and come out OK?

Techreactor, I did exactly what you suggested ... Step 1: I used DVD Decrptor to extract all Video in FILE format. Step 2: I used MenuShrink to Shrink the Menu from 1.1G to 56MB. Step 3: used VobBlanker and Pgcedit to weed out anything else ... which NOTHING was there to weed out. Step 5: used DVD Shrink in Full mode and unchecked all Audio Streams and Subtitles that I did not need ... kept only Origianl HINDI dialogue and ENGLISH Subtitle. Still I came to 62.7% Compression ... which this compression I am usually OK as long as the movie is not over 2 hours ... I am assuming since the movie over 3 Hours that is the reason why the film is jittery and Pixeling.

IMO, for such a long movie, it is better to keep everything unchanged, and split it in two DVD-5 using VobBlanker (or PgcEdit and VobBlanker or FixVTS.)
Just blank out the chhapters so that the DVD fits on a DVD-5, and save in another folder. Redo the same thing, to blank the other chapters.
If you wish, you can also hide the menu buttons leading to blanked chapters with PgcEdit's menu editor.

What about the Casting in the Begining and End, use VOBBlanker and blank out the relevant Cells. You can even keep the prev/cut feature to keep only the movie (start to end).

Reauthor and keep only the main title in DVD shrink, whats the compression % then ???

I understand that 62% wont give you decent results, so you might want to use DVD rebuilder free for that or split to 2 DVD's for best quality.

DVD Fab (free version) splits into 2 x DVD5 and keeps menus. But VobBlanker is also free and is more technologically advanced.

DVD Remake Pro can split (but is not free, which is what the OP wanted).

Dvdfab Platinum (Gold) is what I use but as stated above you only have the menu on the 1st disk. I add the "insert disk 2 " part to dvd fab.

DVD9 Split using VobBlanker & Pgcedit

seem like I need to go to JSoto page and read his instructions again ... osmehow I goof the process.

Folks, if my Vobblanker process goes well and I am able to split the DVD9 into 2 DVD-5s with Menu on both of my DVD-5s (so I have MENU capability to Turn on my Englis "SUBTITLES" on for the second DVD-5) QUESTION: Do I still need to use the PgcEdit to do something else?

Thanks in advance ... I guess I better get ready for the "Super Bowl" game.

After re-reading JSoto's instructions on how to Split a DVD9 to 2 DVD5s using VobBlanker ... I managed to do it ... now I have 2 DVD-5s of of my 3 hour long Indian (Hindi) movie with Menus intact so I can choose my English Subtitiles while watching it. THANKS to JSoto and Vob program.

Blutach, I did not understand your comment about "Button Edit" using PgcEdit program!?!? I have a hard time figuring out this program. Is there an EASY instruction for Button Edit? Also, when I use PgcEdit (v 0.6.2) to open the above Vob'ed folder ... I get this message ...
"Warning: There are 4 discrpencies in some VMGM/VTSI_MAT tables.
Do you want to run the "Fix number of streams" macro to fix them?
Yes or No".
I just push YES ... but I am not sure if I should or not?

Q1: The 2 folder that I have with VobBlanker are perfect ... the only thing is I have "FEW SECONDS" of PAUSE on the second DVD ... of course that is because the playback has to go to CHAPTER 14 and continue the movie. QUESTION: How do I get rid of the dead 13 Cahpters (A Dummy Proof way) without me messing up my new workable folder.

Q2: What is the CORRECT Setting for a DVD-5 size for copying onto it ... I see DVDShrink uses 4464MB as a Default, VobBlanker I think it uses 4477MB, and some other programs use 4483MB. WHAT IS the Safest and Best MB number to use? I understand these are number to keep your recorded material off of the Edge of the DVD balnks where most of the error that can happen.

Oh by the way ... one comment on JSoto's program ... when I blank out the Cells of the movie to down size ... when I come to do it for the rest of Cells ... I have to RE-START VobBlanker since the second time the "PROCESS" button is faded and is not avaiable. It is not really a big deal ... but if it can be fixed ... why not! THANKS JSoto.

1. No, there's no easy of learning how to program a menu. BTW: PgcEdit is now at 0.6.3.1 - update it
2. Pressing Yes to fixing the streams is OK.
3. Do not mess around with your DVD structure.
4. Depending on the type of DVD (+ or -) you can get 4482 (+) or 4488 (-) Mb. Do not burn to the edge except with very high quality discs (eg Verbatims, Taiyo). 4470 should see you clear with OK media or 4300 for crap media.
5. VobBlanker is meant to close out and make you restart. It is a safety measure that you reload the same project.

No need to restart the program. Save your project (Menu: File--> Save project as) and load it again. That's all, and you'll have all your settings untouched. Do the modifications you want (including the output folder if you are going to process the 2nd part) and process again
