Hello,
I am new to posting here, but have been reading the guides and information kindly shared here, for a good few weeks now.
I am having problems with the process of backing up a disc whilst still retaining the menus, and most of the content.
The first disc I tried to do this with was the special features disc of Spiderman.
I intended to blank out certain sections with VobBlanker, shrink the menus with Menushrink and then reduce the size further still in DVDShrink so as to be able to fit the disc on to a dvd-r. I should also mention that I first used DVDFab Decrypter to rip the whole disc to my hd.
However, when previewing on PowerDVD I saw that a blank gap of 20seconds had been introduced after the Columbia Pictures intro. I wanted to blank the Columbia intro but one of the VobBlanker guides on another site advised against this. I have a feeling that shrinking the main menu introduced this 20 seconds of blackness but I have no idea why.
Then, when trying to open the files under the full disc option of DvdShrink I was given the error message,
"Invalid dvd navigation structure."
This prevented me from shrinking and using full disc backup mode in DvdShrink. It still enabled me to open the files in Reauthor Mode, but this was not what I needed or intended to do.
So I instead used VobBlanker to blank out another part(s) of the disc, reducing the size enough for me to burn in Nero, but leaving me with far from the whole disc backed up.
The burnt disc had the blank bit (added to the start of the main menu I think) when played on a stand alone player, which is very irritating.
I would really appreciate any suggestions as to where I went wrong or possible reasons as to what may have caused these problems and errors. If there are any other programs or methods I should have used please advise me, as I am just a beginner at all this, I have edited audio in the past but when it comes to dvds I have only previously used DvdShrink's reauthor mode to extract and back up main films without the menus.
Thank you for your time.
