PUO for MENU_AUDIO and MENU_SUBPIC?

I am backing up my DVD's and for large ones I'll strip audio. As such this means that the audio menus are no longer needed. In PGCEdit you can right-click on these menus and "GO TO CALLING COMMAND". I do this and NOP each calling command. The end result after doing this is the following message:

"Callable with remote control SubPicMenu button"

I want to toggle the PUO for both Subpic menu button and the Audio menu button. Where do I do this? Double-clicking the movie title and doing it there doesn't get rid of this message.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Make each title in the VTS have the following PUO - 3145728. The message will still show but the menu call will be inhibited. See edit in my next post - this info is incorrect

Easier still is to do a kill playback on the menu PGC, make the PGC a dummy and make it go to the main menu (or just set RSM as the first precommand).

Thanks Blu. For clarification, a check means that the prohibition is active, right? If I want to allow my backup to turn on and off sub pics but leave the audio track alone I'd use value 1048576? I usually keep the English sub pics because I tend to be a bit hard of hearing on some movies.

Also, do it in each title of the VTS... via IFO edit? Since the movie I'm working on is The Constant Gardener, movie title is in the VTS_01.

And one last question.... is there an easier way to change a menu PGC into a dummy using PgcEdit, instead of blanking out in VOB Blanker?

A check means the PUO is on. 0=all PUOs are off. 1048576 prohibits audio change via the remote. And I see that I am wrong in my earlier post. You need to set the PUOs to 3158016. This prohibits, audio and subpic menu calls and audio and subpic stream changes. If you only want to prohibit the menu calls 12288 is the number. Probably best to do it for all PGCs in the VTS, too, not just titles.

Do it in PgcEdit - it is so easy. There's even a PUO plugin which does it for all PGCs in the domain.

To turn it into a dummy - use PgcEdit's Kill Playback function.

Last question on this topic..... REALLY! LOL

Hi Blu,
Sorry to bother you, but I just wanted to be sure I have this straight. I killed my language menus for "The Ice Harvest". When I'm to prohibit calls to the subpic menu and audio menu, in PgcEdit I double-click on the VTS that holds the movie title. In this case VTST1,1 TTN 1. The set value is 29377536 so I toggled my two menu calls to a new value of 29389824. Where else do I need to toggle the PUO'S? The VTSM 1's? I have the DVD Spec book, but at the moment it's making my head spin.. lol

Attached are the original IFO files. I would appreciate any time you're willing to put into pointing me in the right direction. Thanks.

Read the edits I made above Cam. For mine, I would use the PUO plugin (get it on the PgcEdit site) to set all PUOs in the current domain and do it for both the menu and titles domains of VTS 1. The PUO plugin makes this op so easy.

But to stop a menu call from that title to the audio and subpic menus, yes, add 12288 to that to make it 29389824.

In the menu PGCs, set them all to 12288 (do this with the PUO plugin).

I actually set all my menu PGCs to 192, to ensure that when you are in a chapter menu (for example) you can't press "next" to get out of that cell (ensuring a button must be pressed) AND also, if you press "next" in the last cell and there are no post commands, the DVD will come to a dead stop So you might want to set 12288 + 192 = 12480 for menu PGCs
