Help, I don't know what I'm doing

I downloaded a program called DVD shrink that enabled me to save a DVD onto my harddrive. And when you open it you see Video_TS and that also has a list of files inside it. I can click on a couple of them and the DVD will play on Windows Media player. HOwever, when I go into Windows Movie Maker to try and import the DVD, I get "This file is not supported by Windows Movie Maker"
How do I know what kind of editing software will allow me to import and ultimately edit?

welcome. here are a few programs i use. they are easy and free. u need 2 rip dvd to hd. i use dvd decrypter or dvd fab decrypter in file mode. i run the files thru fix vts 1.24 2 fix vob files. (only works with successful rip). then i open movie folder with dvd shrink, analyze and encode, and finally burn with favorite burn software(imageburn or dvd decrypter). here r links 2 these programs.

I do not use Windows Movie Maker.But I presume u r trying to import the VOB files in to WMM.Rename the VOB files to .mpg and then retry to import them into WMM.

What exactly are you trying to do? Are you trying to make a backup copy a a DVD or are you trying to put the movie on the HD so you don't have to insert it into the drive when you want to watch? Also what movie is it? These things make a difference as to how you process the DVD.
