Help: Creating Text Menus for Home DVDs

Hello All! I am new to this forum, so please excuse me if I am posting in the wrong forum and what not.

My question/problem is that I have Nero 6, and it works great for creating home DVDs, but the only thing that I do not like is that everything is a button on the menus! I would like to make my DVDs look like real DVDs and have text as the buttons (i.e. "Play Movie", "Scene Selection,"...). I have been trying to find a program that handles this taks, but they are all very pricey. I did see at the top of this forum a program called "Titlewriter," but I am not sure if this is for regular DVDs or what. Sorry for the ramblings, but any help would be appreciated. Again I am new so forgive me if this (or something like this) has been posted already. I tried to search Thanks in advance.

Not sure what you mean by "everything is a button on the menus" but yes Titlewriter can make menus and so can DVD Styler. See the Essential Tools sticky at the top of this forum.

Another great prog to do this is DVD Remake Pro.

Thank you for your help. I will try these tonight What I meant by everything is a button is that you can not just have the text to click, rather it has the thumbnail of the files to click on (animated preview). Sorry I still don't think I am explaining it right!

Ok maybe I am an idiot, or just no luck, but I downloaded the TitleWriter and DVD Styler. DVD Styler has the functionality that I am looking for, but you cannont use it on WMV files, and Title Writer needs DVD files. I tried to convert the WMV to MPEG-2 through Nero, and it converts it, but the video is super-speeded and the soundtrack is off. HELP me! Is there a good freeware converter to convert WMV to MPEG-2? Or can I still use the other programs on the WMVs?

The Only thing I didn't try is DVD Remake Pro..

OK, thanks for explaining what you mean. I'm surporised there isn't a setting in Ner0 to make a simple menu.

This is what you do. Finish your project in Ner0, even with the animated menus. This is now a DVD that TW or DVD Styler will accept. But even easier, use MenuShrink to shrink the animated buttons to simple little stills.

DVD Remake Pro can also do a menu to still or replace a block (replace your menu with a background of your choosing - ie text instead of animation).

I will learn dvd remake pro very soon, but I think pay program always have great support in this forum
