Edit audio in mpeg-2

Here is what I am trying to do. I captured music videos from MTV on my PC as mpeg2 files. Video and audio quality are very good. Some of the videos have edited audio tracks and I would like to re-dub them with the un-edited tracks (mp3 or wav files). leaving me with the orginal video and a new audio track.

Is this possible and what programs will do this?

i've had to do this several times when the audio isn't up to scratch.

just demux audio from the mpeg2 file (tmpgenc's mpeg tools), load both the demuxed audio and new audio into audacity. line them up, cut where appropriate and save. mux again.
